Restaurants open Christmas Day

Does anyone know of any restaurants on urb. La Marina that are taking bookings for lunchtime on Christmas Day please?

Geoff.

La Marina

Most are open but are already fully booked, was in Tabernita last week and they still had a few tables left, not sure if they still have.

Barking Dogs.

Is there a procedure for reporting dog owners who work, leaving their dogs to bark and harass people all day long until they come back from work.

Go to the Police Station and take out a Denuncia.

Hi blarter222, re: Barking Dogs, does your enquiry relate to the problem on Luis De Gongora close to the Chinese Market, if so, do you have any update. TIA.

After over eight years in La marina, Have returned to the U.K. Yes it is busier, noisier but what I have noticed is that the yapping ,crapping dogs are nearly all in La Marina, Staying close to an airport at the moment, but aircraft, ,car,, and lorry noise, much more bearable than the incessant dog noise and untrained owners that I have had to put up with.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2015-11-22 17:39:13 UTC

Yes it does.

Commented blarter222 in La Marina 2015-11-23 10:58:20 UTC

Alan,a bit extreme, going back but you are right, there is definitely an increase in noise, brought about by dog owners not caring about the noise their pets make. The owners go to work, leave them outside to annoy everybody else for 8 hours plus any pub time after work, then back to quiet dogs when taken inside, bugger everyone else.

Like your comment blarter222,,But the reason on leaving La Marina, was that I am having trouble with my eyesight, and thought it prudent to stop driving, Unfortunately the la marina terrain in not compatible with arthritis, and
, public transport is almost non existant, So a move was on the cards. Could of perhaps picked a better time of the year, but winter does only last eleven months of the year in the U.K. So I only have about nine months to wait for the next one.

Alan,
good luck with your eyes. Despite our many pen-fights I wish you all the best in the future. You have always kept a polite way of criticizing me if our views on things have collided. I appreciate that. So enjoy the winter months and look forward to the summer month next year!

Road Markings

I wonder if other people are experiencing this problem. We went out for a Social evening last Saturday and drove off the urbanisation. On returning we came back via the N332 and along the bottom road by Iceland. This whole road at night, if there is any fog, is a total Nightmare. I had to drive less than 10 miles an hour down the length of the whole road owing to the fog being so thick, but what makes it so bad is the fact that all markings more or less on the whole length on that road have disappeared The centre line is so faint that you can hardly see it, but what makes it even worse is finding the humps. You are almost on them before you know they are there. You would think that the Local Council would be able to at least keep the lines painted to a good standard. OR even better - put **Cats Eyes** down the middle of the road.

La Marina

The road markings in general on the Urb are very faint or non existent. T junctions, crossings and road-humps (tarmac) all need re-painting.

At less than 10mph you wouldnt come across the speed bumps very quickly. lol

Referendum

What will happen to British expats in Spain if the UK leaves the EU? British expats will be third-country nationals in the EU!

Yes same as the Norwegians.

Commented johnmckernanjnr in La Marina 2015-11-09 16:12:54 UTC

johnmckernanjnr, you are not correct! The Norwegians are not third country nationals in the EU. Have you never heard about the EEA?

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2015-11-09 21:05:11 UTC

A third country national is someone who settles in a foreign country whilst looking to migrate to a third country. I hardly think that applies to most Brits living in Spain. Once again reindeer you have made an ass of yourself.

Commented harrykarry0 in La Marina 2015-11-10 00:18:12 UTC

harrykarry0,
wishful thinking from your side. If the UK decides to leave the EU British people living in Spain will be under the same rules as for instance people from Algeria, Morocco and other non EU countries. So then you say "have made an ass of yourself" yes I wonder who has made an ass.
I really hope that the UK will stay in the EU and that the British people will see the advantages of being there.
And you can call me whatever you like but try to se the reality.

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2015-11-10 07:21:35 UTC

That was my point that you missed reindeer, if the UK leaves the EU I think we would be relegated to the second division known as the EEA.

Commented johnmckernanjnr in La Marina 2015-11-10 12:29:57 UTC

johnmckernanjr,
I haven't missed the EEA possibility for the UK. But is that really what David Cameron wants? You have nearly the same rules to follow as if you are in the EU. You have to follow among other things the free movement of goods, services, persons and capital — throughout the 31 EEA States. And Mr Cameron does not want those rules for the British people. Or do you have any other information what he wants?

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2015-11-10 13:59:54 UTC

Two interesting articles in the free press this week. One of them in The Euro weekly news had a great story regarding the UK leaving....Pensioners wouldn't have access to free Medical care, also our Pensions could be frozen meaning lots of people would want to go back to the UK resulting in the value in our properties dropping dramatically.
I urge all expats to make sure you have your vote and vote to STAY IN.

Commented Al Marina in La Marina 2015-11-10 14:52:26 UTC

BigEd, I really hope people will read your message. STAY IN!

poppies

i am noticing a serious lack of poppies this year.

La Marina

We will have to reduce the use of opium this year. But we will survive.

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2015-11-06 16:25:56 UTC

reindeer keeper i seriously hope you misunderstood my comment and thought i meant live poppies instead of worn ones to show how we remember all the brave people who gave their lives for their countries.....i hope you wasnt being flippant about it no matter what nationality you are.
