WARNING*****POISON & PROCESSIONARY CATERPILLARS IN LA MARINA!
We have just heard about poison being put down in the Park area of Calle San Sebastián/Calle Argon,
La Marina Urb. Also processionary caterpillars are on the paths and verde of Calle de Monaco, La Marina Urb.
In Calle Bilbao a dog died Sunday because he ate poison on his nightly walk on the lead!!.
Please take care.
I've seen a spraying truck doing the pine trees by me in Oasis this morning. Maybe they are doing the whole urb.
UPDATE NEW LOCATION:
More poison found!!!
More pieces of meat were with poison in the area of la marina found.
Near the intersection of Calle Avalon / Calle San Sebastian.
The police have been giftproben seprona, and handed over to the guardia civil.
It was also a lawsuit. We know of 5 dogs by inclusion of the poison.
We ask all dog owners their animals in this neighborhood for a walk.
We've just received word that another dog was poisoned. Avda San
Fulgencio near parque Berlin. Please warn everyone and keep your
eyes open. Also we would like to ask you if you see anything
suspicious please just to write it down, if possible, take pictures
and get a sample in a plastic bag with you. You can do this then
in the guardia civil in guardamar. Ask there to an official of the seprona.
Throwing a question out there, yes im new to this thread, i myself have screened it for many a year.
BIG FM radio station are a comeplete waste of airtime. Not only are some of the DJs useless, the station nonstop plays adverts and then some more adverts. Their entire Facebook stinks and it has one interest, money. Every post is about 1€ advertising and we dont lie about the figures for how many listeners. Big Fm, how many listeners do you have, as my own conclusion is, either Bay Radio or, Radio Donna are the peoples choice.
My suggestion, stop bashing and talking about other stations, keep your nose out of others business
thank you JH for your comment as we always listen to opinions, for your information we have the least amount of advertising than any LIVE radio station on the Costa Blanca with only 12 minutes of advertising in each hour in comparison to some, I am sorry that you feel this way about our station however it is clear that you prefer to listen to our competition and that is your choice, free will is a wonderful thing. our comment about listener figures is correct as it is impossible to know how many listeners we have as the technology to tell me if you have your radio on and tuned to big fm doesnt exist
We make no pretence that we are a community radio station and with the largest crew of live presenters on any english radio station in spain who by the way are all volunteers we work for the benefit of our community and play what we are asked to .
our advertising is 1€ per play and that barely covers the costs of running the station, but we dont do this for the money, we do it because we love what we do and as we are still growing, we must be getting something right.
I take on board your comments, but somehow i dont think you will take any notice of anything ive said in return.
To end we are a community radio station, in the community for the community by community members
well said richie, keep up the good work, there are people who appreciate what your team are doing.
Can't suggest anything for your dislike of the radio station apart from there's a shop in Rojales who may be able to fix your radio tuner.
well said chalkie. i notice no more comments from jh,perhaps he was just joking hence the "jester" !!!

Hi Everyone. A lot of you might remember Malika and Me when we we had the bar in La Marina Village and used to do the Moroccan nights with Belly Dancers. Well we have moved on and are now situated in the Santara Resort located in Gran Alacant. Malika is now running the restaurant here and we will be having some theme nights as before with the first of the New Year starting with a Flamenco night on the 21st January followed by a Morocco night soon after.
The resort is adapted especially for the over 55's and fully wheelchair friendly. Here you can take a relaxing weeks holiday on a resort that's geared to give you all you need for health and recuperation or to help you recover from an operation with its onsite wellness facilities or take a long term rental in an apartment or bungalow to reside in for as long as you want with like minded people.
The place is very nice and you will get free parking.
Thank you and a Happy New Year to you all.
Tonight , 3 Jan 17, it's really cold in our Julia. We're new to the Urb and have tried AC heating , plug-in fan heaters and halogen heaters. None give good levels of heat.
How do those of you who've spent many years in la Marina heat your houses in cold evenings like this and overnight.
Thanks , Sue Hughes
We have a portable gas fire, trouble is it does cause condensation but it's warm. I also have small oil heaters with thermostats on in the bedroom with the door closed it takes the chill off the room. I have a curtain across the arch way ( not sure if it's the same in Julia's ) that leads from the room to the bedrooms I find it keeps the heat in the room better. We have plenty of nice rugs down as well as the tiled floors are cold. Keep warm!
Thanks so much for your help, we bought a portable gas heater today plus gas bottle, so should be warmer tonight !. We paid 45 euros for the gas bottle, do you know if we have to return it to the same shop when it runs out ? also, when we buy a 2nd gas bottle , is it another 45 euros, or cheaper ?
The assistant only spoke broken english, so we didn't really understand. Also, if we have the gas heater on 2/3 hours each night , approx how long will it last ? thanks v much again, really appreciate your advice. Best wishes Sue H
Hi Sue. Personally I would not go to the expense of buying another bottle. You can go to any gas provider and exchange. Not sure how much a refill is these days but would have thought around €15 so paying €30 for a bottle is expensive as they are always available for sale.
Sue you can take the bottle to anywhere that sells the gas they just exchange it for another bottle. There is a guy that comes round fase 1 from memory( I'm in UK at moment so it could have changed) it's Tuesday & Friday around mid morning, if you put your bottle out he looks up the streets ( might be an idea to chain it to something though) however there's plenty of places to buy gas from... petrol station, super valu, ferretaria, etc. With regards to getting a spare,if you are on Facebook join La Marina and Quesada buying and selling, there are usually bottles for sale on there and if not you can put advert in asking if anyone has one, doesn't cost anything.once again from memory the gas should last approx 11 days depending on which setting and length of time. We used to leave the oil heater on all night and the thermostat would kick in when temperature dropped Enjoy your time in La Marina.
Many thanks to you Both, I appreciate your responses.
Please can I ask one final question - we bought a 4200w calor gas heater, but after 3 hours of being switched on, last evening, it cut out. We have since learnt that gas heaters have a 'deoxygenisation programme), and need a certain level of oxygen to work safely. I think our heater cut out as we had all the internal doors closed, so no air/oxygen was circulating. Do you leave the window open a little, or just keep all internal doors open ? I know its a safey device (which is good !), but just wondered how it works for safety purposes. Thanks again, for taking the time to respond. Sue Hughes
Sue it has happened to us but not on a regular basis. I believe we just left the door that leads into the kitchen slightly ajar. Do you have a carbon monoxide alarm? I plan to bring one next time I come over, although it's not often I stay for the winter like I used to... I prefer the summer lol!
Does anyone know if any of the local restaurants are open on 26th December please?
