I am sure that will be a great help to Lorraine and thank you on her behalf.
We all need some help in our lives and people such as you who just like to help for no reward are worth their weight in gold. X

Hi Lorraine. I hope that you have seen the post below offering you the free use of a wheel chair?
Wouldn't it be a much better world if their was more people like them around

Commented Support in Alicante 2016-06-08 07:24:26 UTC

Thank you, didn't realise just how easy that was going to be. Just need to confirm with my dad that he will actually use it now before bothering anyone.

Many thanks in advance. I'll be in touch soon.

A Spanish Life Events Calendar

Good morning La Marina Hope everyone is well. Just a couple of things which we would like to tell you. We noticed that very few people are using our events calendar. This is an excellent way to promote your future events as this is connected to our Twitter system, whereby every event added to the calendar, a notification is automatically sent to all of our Twitter followers. If you have a advert on services which is only €20 a month, you can also use the events calendar to promote forthcoming sales and promotions. You can also add on ASL face book page whatever you wish. Secondly, in the very near future we are launching ASL franchise in every area of Spain. No upfront fee and very good return if you put the work in!

For more information please contact us on [email protected]

Best wishes

WE are a lot further South in La Marina, but I know there are lots of bridge clubs in Benidorm. Almost certainly in Alcoy as well. Ask the agent you bought your property through or search on the internet. Good Luck

Commented Frizzy in La Marina 2016-04-19 07:25:50 UTC

Hi Frizzy.

Are you still organizing Bridge lessons?
If so be great if you would let our new members know and if you have some dates in the future, then place the dates on the events calendar as then our Twitter followers of which we have over 10,000 as well as the members of ASL will see your post.

Commented Support in Alicante 2016-05-18 11:55:01 UTC

We do not have plans for any more Bridge Lessons in the foreseeable future.

Quesada Fish and Chips is holding an event on The 25th of May. ( see the events calendar)

Maybe worth having a read and popping down there just to receive some free Fish n Chips!!!

Cagneys.

What a great day at Cagney's yesterday.Wonderful weather, excellent live acts on the stage, hundreds of people really enjoying themselves.Farewell messages from Kate and Ricky who leave Cagney's next week, plus the introduction of the new tenants. Then, with 15 mins to go till the entertainment finishes some idiot rings the police who shut everything down. What an anti climax, whoever this person is (and I understand he's a Brit)needs to have a word with himself. He well and truly put the kibosh on things.Anyway we wish Kate and Ricky all the best and good luck and success to the new guys.

Here is a picture of the A***hole who got the music stopped.

Commented Paul Roach in La Marina 2016-04-30 14:24:56 UTC

Hi Paul.

Totally understand your annoyance by someone
complaining about the music, especially as it sounded as though everyone was having a great night and I am sure there will be many more, but we had to remove the picture. We hope that whoever the person was will understand and accept that the music is enjoyed by all who attends the bar and seeing as though it is not an every night occurrence, that instead of calling the police, maybe go and see for themselves as you never know, they may even enjoy it!!!

Commented Support in Alicante 2016-04-30 15:44:57 UTC

Can I add my thoughts the music was not in the night, not even in the Evening but it started at 2pm and was due to finish at 6pm, due to one complaint it was stopped at 5.45pm. around 15 minutes early.
If you had read Cagneys website page you would of seen the reason Kate gave, which was far from what you believed happened. In a short sentence the guy involved was evicted from Cagneys six years earlier after causing upset to customers and staff at a Christmas dinner do. He carried his hate for Cagneys on all that time. Problem Bars will have to suffer because of this incident,is that whenever anybody is evicted from a bar or Restaurant, they will retailiate in the same fashion whenever it suits them. A quick call to the police who will have to attend and because they set a precendent this time will have to close the bar or at least stop the music.result drunken Yobs ! Common Sense 0

Commented Alan in La Marina 2016-04-30 18:12:06 UTC

Correct Alan. It wasn't the music that was the problem.
I know Tom and by that time of day, he would have been full of red wine, and he knew there was a leaving do and lots of people would be there, so he wanted to spoil Rick and Kates big day.
He didn't think things out really. By turning up 'on stage', everyone now knows who he is. If he had called the Police from home, nobody would have been any the wiser.
He recently organised a 'pig roast' with all the monies raised, going to the Oncology Unit at Torrevieja Hospital., so he's not all bad, but, imagine if a passing Muslim had had objections and phoned the Police, and stopped the 'roast' he wouldn't have been too pleased !
Live and let live Tom.

Commented Al Marina in La Marina 2016-05-01 09:22:52 UTC

Lets hope he's not suffering from the early signs of dementia and he can't help it.

Commented chalkie in Quesada 2016-05-08 18:10:28 UTC

Let's hope that's not the case and if so, then nobody will be as sympathetic and sorry as me.However if not,he still needs to sort himself out!!!

Commented blarter222 in La Marina 2016-05-08 18:23:05 UTC

Just to make it clear, I've never met him. It's just when BigEd mentioned that he'd organised a Hog Roast for charity so he can't be all bad. It just reminds me of my Aunt who suffers from Dementia and it was only looking back that explained a lot of strange behaviour in previous years. I saw some of the comments on Facebook and felt a bit uncomfortable when his picture was shown.

Commented chalkie in Quesada 2016-05-08 22:04:30 UTC

ASL, is this ok?

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2016-05-09 10:52:05 UTC

I can confirm Tom does not suffer from dementia. He knows exactly what's what. He was on a mission, fuelled by red wine, to destroy Rick and Kate's big day, based on an incident yrs ago.
I often joked with him," had he called in Cagneys for a drink" and the obscenities he came out with, I can not repeat on here.
So don't feel sorry for him thinking he has the onset of dementia, if anything, it's alcoholism.

Commented Al Marina in La Marina 2016-05-10 13:12:43 UTC

So it is much better to say that a person is an alcoholic than to say that he is suffering from dementia?

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2016-05-11 16:02:36 UTC

It is if it's true.

Commented harrykarry0 in La Marina 2016-05-11 17:28:48 UTC

I'm impressed that you're so sure Big Ed, it took the UK NHS to diagnose my Aunt.

Commented chalkie in Quesada 2016-05-12 00:17:18 UTC

I'm not sure really, maybe I'm guessing but let me say something then you can have a guess.

If I started drinking red wine at 9-30 am and carried on drinking red wine all day 'til about 6-30-7 o clock at night, would you think I had a problem?

Commented Al Marina in La Marina 2016-05-12 04:27:28 UTC

Yes because you only have one mouth.........

I don't drink alchohol but still like going into bars and having Blackcurrant and casera. People assume it's a Red wine Spritzer. If you're right, then he's a sad, lonely man that needs help and not his picture and comments spread over the internet.

Commented chalkie in Quesada 2016-05-12 11:34:44 UTC

Yes you would have a great problem but you would not admit your problem.

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2016-05-12 11:37:10 UTC

We are all adults and you can add what you wish.
But be ready for feedback if you upset anyone!!

Commented Team ASL "A Spanish Life" in La Marina 2016-05-12 11:50:23 UTC

Hey Chalkie, I see you live in Quesada, so you probably wasn't at Cagneys that afternoon ?
You do realise that one phone call to the Police, spoilt a great afternoon for lots of people, so if Tom only gets some stick on here, he's getting off very lightly.

Commented Al Marina in La Marina 2016-05-12 18:10:37 UTC

That is what we are here for!

Commented Team ASL "A Spanish Life" in La Marina 2016-05-12 18:38:11 UTC

No use trying to fool you Big Ed, I'll have to get rid of that Quesada link. Although I do sometimes work in La Marina, I wasn't there. I would even admit to being a bit 'miffed'.

However, I wouldn't publish his photo, name and drinking habits over the internet, because i wouldn't know the deep down story of why he acted that way.

If "Tom" decides that he can't take any more ridicule and sometimes nasty, hateful comments and takes the ultimate way out, then imagine what the UK press would report and I suspect La Marina residents wouldn't get off so lightly either.

Commented chalkie in Quesada 2016-05-12 20:45:15 UTC

The 'deep down story' why he acted that way was purely personal towards Rick and Kate over an incident that happened 6 yrs ago.
He's not very 'techno' so he won't be reading ASL and even if he did he couldn't care less, so he wouldn't take the ultimate way out.
On the day all this happened, he approached the new to be owners and said something like "and don't you even think of having any music'

Commented Al Marina in La Marina 2016-05-12 21:49:10 UTC

Commented Al Marina in La Marina 2016-05-13 06:49:43 UTC

lt is rolling on so thanks to anyone concerned, But an agreed Mini Fiesta due to be held by three Bars tomorrow has been cancelled at the last minute, apparently the police paid them a visit and told them that the licence they had legally obtained is not worth the paper it is printed on as the rules have been changed and they must apply for a new one, which will take 10 days to arrange (the fiesta was due tomorrow) the police apparently added that If it went ahead tomorrow and no one complained, they would still come along and close it.
So regarding my scorecard from my earlier comment, the Police have joined the hooligans, Latest score Hooligans 2 Common Sense 0

Can anyone tell me the location of the medical centre, Guardamar, for a trafico medical.
I was told it is on the main road after the town hall/church but it's fairly long road.

I think they were trying to prevent their adopted kids from being involved. I remember when the Daily Mail used to be quite a good newspaper (it was a while ago)

Commented chalkie in Quesada 2016-04-18 20:57:34 UTC

Reindeer,
Cant see what an eleven day old page of the Daily Mail, Has anything interesting to normal people, I believe everybody who has some interest in other peoples sex lives already knew, who and what had gone on, as it had already been published in so many newspapers across the world. In fact the Mail itself was only guilty of using what is known as a spoiler tactic. I dont expect I am teaching you anything Reindeer, But it was the Sun (On Sunday) that first made this small innocuous story, into a must be reported one,as it wanted to print the story but had a block put on it. A Judge in the High Court HAS decided to lift the ban placed on the English press but is waiting until later this week in case the couple involved wish to appeal (IN England, we all get a chance). Yes the couple have two adopted children, It is for there sakes that the couple first applied for a printed ban. Personally I find it in poor taste for anybody to mock this Family because one of them had a different idea of Family Life to the majority of us. If I wanted to bet on who told the Sun On Sunday, I know where my money would go. That is my piece said, I just hope if anybody got or gets a kick out of the story, when it is told, has nothing they wish to keep quiet.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2016-04-19 08:30:52 UTC

Alan,
a truly free and independent press is a vital component of any healthy democratic society!

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2016-04-19 10:35:22 UTC

Reindeer,
I did believe that although we rarely agree, you had some substance to most of your debates, But to say a truly free and Independent press is a vital part(blah blah blah) If you can name me any newspaper that is truly free and independent, then I willl say that you are so gullible that perhaps you should be banned feom reading newspapers for your own sake.Just have a look at who owns Newspapers albeit Beaverbrook , Rothermere, Thompson, and even the modern day tribe, not one of them is truly honest, nor truly independent, they understand the meaning of one thing and that is power, So please dont try to tell me about Press and freedom,I have been there seen it worked in it,and true and independent it aint. .

Commented Alan in La Marina 2016-04-19 12:14:34 UTC

Just remember that particular bastion of freedom and independence also published pictures of Ex Pat pensioners drinking Sangria in the pool saying that's how their winter fuel allowance was spent. Never let truth get in the way of a good story or selling papers. It seems impartiality has gone out of the window for the referendum as well.
