3 Million Euro profit

ASL Member Founding Member Post #18164 Replies closed

I've just read in this weeks Euro Weekly News, that San Fulgencio has closed it's 2012 budget with a profit of more than 3 million Euros. Will this profit be spent ? if so, will it be spent on the Urbanisation where most of it was probably generated, or will it be spent in S F village, where you could probably eat your meals off the street ? I'm being flippant of course, but surely the Urb needs some money spending on it ? The roads are full of pot-holes, more road markings are needed, and how about a few palm trees to be planted, as in La Marina village. The road from the N332, where the garage is, needs tidying up and a few trees down there would make a nice gateway to the Urb. Just sayin' like.

And what about a few benches dotted around and some badly needed dog poo bins would be good!

At last normality could be coming back to this Forum.Stuff the bar argument stuff the charity argument stuff the dot versus the rest argument.
If I remember rightly when this last Council was formed,I think it said it had been left with a 9million Euro debt.by the previous council.I gather they will claim most of the the profit to off set some of that supposed loss.We on the Urbs have suffered ever since, with worsening of conditions on the Urb,I have noticed recently an attempt to better the park area around where I live, but in all fairness I havnt noticed much else that the Council can be proud of.Unfortunately the Village will always get priority over the Urbs, although it produces a lot less income for the Council,Many things on the Urbs need urgent attention to bring the area back to what it was just a couple of years ago including a few of them things being Oasis, where the residents have been treated like s**t,the poor state of some of the roads, the absolute stupity of the road markings or lack of them..The lack lustre look of the whole area.I could go on but I think it fair that we all have a say in what needs doing. Then somehow arrange with the Mayor and his legion of Councillors,an open meeting where we can discuss with them, our complaints to them, and hopefully between us all find a way forward,so that in a few years time, people will want to come to La Marina Urbs,be it for a week,an evening or for the rest of their lives.so lets have some suggestions

ALAN,
If there was any truth in these figures whatsoever surely Jeff would be shouting from the roof tops?
Not a word from him yet so I think precaution is the word of the day?

Perfectly true Friendly Viking, but of course it could be the Mayor, has forgotten Jeff and he hasn't been told yet.
But on the other hand it does help to dream if you are living on La Marina Urbs.Who knows one day things will look rosey here, and we will get the same treatment as as San Ful. Village.
To dream the impossible dream (what a lovely song that is)

Stockportdave,
Even if there is an inkling of truth in this report you must remember that we started this 4 year political period with a deficit of, was it 8 or 9 million Euros, and the mayor said at the time that the priority was to get that debt down if not eliminate it in it's entirety.
The likeleyhood of trees being planted and roads being repaired is fairly remote don't you think?
We are hoping that Jeff, our elected Urb Councillor will in the fullness of time tell us the electorate how much truth there is in this report and how the Council will be proceeding in the light of these results and/or savings.

STOCKPORTDAVE
We have waited several days now and the clarity in this matter that we have awaited has not been forthcoming. Typical of Jeff, our councillor, he never answers anything even if the news might be good.

Could it possibly that he's not a member of the site?

Hi Marko,
Just a bit of input about Jeff.He was a member of this site, soon after he got a Councillors job,and to his credit,he answered most questions that he could (not necessarily, with the correct answer,he did receive some stick from other members at times, some warranted and some unwarranted. He finally wrote on this forum that he would no longer read or reply to any comments on this forum (rather like a child throwing its toys out of the pram) But if we wanted any information we would have to visit him in the Council offices or read his blog.He also said the he no objection to anyone copying his log onto this site.We know that he or staff do read this forum as sometimes answers to questions on the forum are answered on his blog.Unfortunately this gives him the right to pick and choose what to ignore and what to reply to.Also if you look at his blog, you will see that he does not write on it too often
