Firstly, does anyone know the best place to buy a new car battery.
Secondly, a friend has asked me to try and find out some info for them, they want to purchase a new car in the UK,(as they can get a good deal through a friend) then have it changed over to a lefthand drive, then they will need to have it changed to Spanish plates when they get it here, can this be done?
I think it is quite costly to change to Spanish Plates Linda. I vaguely remember someone saying it was about 1,600 euros. Ask Steve George in the village he has an office in that little row of shops going into La Marina village from the Guadamar side.
1) Try the Motor Factors in Guardamar in the slip road up from the Ford Garage.
2) Providing the car they bring over is completly legal, there should be no problem, cost approx 900 Euros.

not all cars can be changed to left hand drive. its complicated and can be quite expensive as for re-reg. it can not be done if the car is not in original factory condition, i.e. no changes or modifications.
all modifications must be done by an approved spanish garage.

Speak to James at Mr Motor, he advertises on here, he knows everything about transfering car registration etc. I believe it depends on age and how long you have owned the car.

Linda, ask for several quotes as some people really overcharge. I have used Jarra at Coche de Guardamar in the pueblo several times and she has been the cheapest! And no hassle!

Hi Linda, In the first a instance if you need a battery for a car, let me know the make and model and I will have a new battery (with a two year guarantee) there within an hour or so, we fit them for free and dispose of the old one legally.
On the reregistration issue, It would be best if you could come in and see me (or I am happy to come and see you). I have done hundreds in my nine years here and no one is the same. The most expensive I have done was a little over 16000 euros and the cheapest a little over 600 euros . The costs vary massively, some headlights need changing and others don't but if they do it can be over 2000€ just for lights!!!

when you send your car export form and documents to DVLA, photocopy and keep all your UK paperwork/log book etc as it makes it much easier if you wish to take your car back to UK in the future., If you do this yourself be prepared for a long wait at Traffico Alicante (nightmare) ,if you get stuck with forms in there,the Spanish guy in the small shop opposite the entrance did all mine for a few euros,,if you need to change headlights new ones are expensive try get second hand,,

Hi Linda, The battery for the focus should be a 75 a/h with a right hand positive. The cost of one of these is 70€, I will of course fit it free of charge and dispose of the old one for you. Let me know if you want one and I will have it monday morning. I am happy to come to you if needed. All batteries have a 2 year guarantee. James
dont know what a right hand positive means sorry, but we have a Spanish car and we would like you to get us the battery please and come and fit it for us and take the old one away for 70 euros.
