I have just read on a local forum,that the Chemist on the satellite roundabout,has notices over it stating that it is closed until further notice.
If this is until Valencia pay the chemists,what they owe them,I dont know.But we now have a position that every chemist in the Valencia area is owed thousands ,if not millions of Euros,because Valencia is openly not paying for the medication many of us are receiving.It may only be a short time Farmacias are closing by the hundreds,then we could be in a position of having to pay 100% of the cost of our medicational.At least this time no one on the Council is to blame.

Well Alan...I have just been up there, and although they were closed this morning, they ARE NOT closing at all. What we need to remember is that the Spanish gov. is paid by UK gov to cover us brits for meds...soooo we will see what comes up.I recently had dealings with DWP and was asked to keep them informed of what happens here. Watch this space.

The U.K. government pay the Spanish Government about 3500 euros per year,For each Brit over retirement age,resident in Spain.to enable them to have the same treatment as a Spanish pensioner receives.the problem arises because apparently this payment is made to the Spanish Government in Madrid,they then pay each autonamous region to cover the health costs of Brits in that region,Unfortunately our region Valencia has not been paying the Farmacias for the medication,that they have been dispensing to pensioners,that is leading to Farmacias not being able to pay their suppliers of medication,If this carries on suppliers will stop supplying Farmacias,unless they themselves get paid.Unfortunately some Farmacias will not stay in business,unless the pensioner pays 100% of the cost of medication,I am not saying this as a scare tactic,but if you owned a business and people stoped paying you for goods or services that you had supplied to them ,then you would stop supplying them,and that is what will happen until,people pay what they are legally due to pay

The strike scheduled to start today,was called off late last week,that was why it was a bit strange for the chemist to be closed this morning ""until further notice".It seemed it had closed either because of finance or lack of supplies.

I think a lot of people don't understand how a lot of these chemists are run. A huge percentage of them are family run. That means them taking loans out from banks / creditors to make sure they are stocked up ad then the government pay what needs to be paid to the chemists. So now the banks aren't handing out money or credit the chemists cannot get there hands on money for vital Meds. So now they Want there money but the governments are so broke they can't afford to pay them.

It was closed thismorning as they were having a meeting...so they told me today.
