Iceland Store La Marina Remember Joe Chesworth

Last year Joe Chesworth, who worked at the Iceland store in La Marina, lost his life in a tragic accident. Joe would have been 21 on 29th July of this year and staff in Iceland wanted to mark this by raising funds for the EMAUS Children’s Home in Elche. They managed to raise €81 and more money is still coming in. Joe lived every day to the full and it seemed apt that the money raised from his birthday was used to help other youngsters to reach their full potential. Chris Holmes and Cathryn Glennon from EMAUS came along to the store to present the staff with a certificate and to hear about Joe’s life.

I didn't know the guy that died in the car accident but when it happend it seemed everyone on the Urb new someone tht new him.

Just a change of subject, the home in Elche is no longer run by EMAUS so anyone claiming to be raising funds for that home under EMAUS is stringing you along now. EMAUS see over other children's homes but not the one in Elche anymore. That does not mean these kids still don't need help. They need a lot of help with basic needs and toiletries.
I'm not trying to put a damper on anything all I'm saying is be wary of people now saying there raising funds for EMAUS children's home Elche, that is a lie. The home in Elche is not run by EMAUS anymore.

You are correct Andi.It was announced recently,that the Childrens home in Elche is not under the charge of EMAUS any longer,I made a few inquiries,but all i could find out,is that it is believed another charity was taking over the reins,but not much more has been revealed,although i was told,it is hoped that the age would be extended to 20 years,instead of the current 18,to get some work experience for those who are about to leave the home.I have been told I would be notified when anything is known,if this happens I hope to be allowed to put it on this forum

Alan a young lad started in the shop yesterday from the children's home. A 16 year old, good laugh he was. He will be there every saturday. It's good for them, gets them out builds there confidence and gives them a sense of responsibility.
It's not about EMAUS not over seeig the home now it's about still working with the kids, helping them try to integrate and work and learn alongside other people.

Thanks for that Andi,It is so important for these youngsters,to go out in the big wild world,and learn what life is like outside of the Childrens Home.needless to say I wish this young lad the best of Luck for the future,and I hope to hear more of these sort of things occuring to even more children from this Home

Hi, I am holding a funday saturday for emaus and the proceeds will be going to elche AND THAT IS NOT A LIE. ANY EVENT ORGANISED BEFORE THEY CHANGED THEIR NAME CAN STILL GO AHEAD. THankyou and hope to see you all there, we r hopefully going to raise alot of money for these kids as long as people dont keep getting put off. Its at la campana bar, urb eden, guardamar and starts at midday with andy james and lots of other great singers with face painting, a raffle and a beer competition.
