Gas inspection

Ok...there have been a lot of posts about gas inspectors around here.
I have just had 2 guys at the gate saying that they had come to do a free inspection of my gas installation.......very proper looking with cards and ID etc. In broken English I was told that the inspection has to be done every 5 years (this I know), and when I told them I had a current Repsol certificate, I was told Repsol had called them to come and do the inspection.
I had Repsol here 1 month ago to do the inspection so I could get a delivery contract with them! The inspection was completed satisfactorily, and I have the contract...valid for the next 5 years !
Can anyone enlighten me as to who these people are, whether they are genuine or bogus etc.....I was told to phone their office and given a business card for Empresa Instaladora de Gas with an Alicante address.
I didn't let them in the gate.

this happened to me on quesada about 18 months ago. Its sort of a legal scam if you like. Its just a way to get you onto their books but they pray on the non spanish and make it look as though its a compulsory measure.

I played them at their own game, invited them into my property ( my husband was present) to speak to my spanish solicitor over the telephone and explain to him what is was they wanted from me.

They became very flustered, I asked them for their card which they gave me but it was just a gas contractors card nothing official.Thery claimed they worked with the rojales council, again this wasnt a lie, it just meant they got some of their contractual work through the council, again none of it compulsory.

In the end it was simply an attempt to baffle us with jargon although in fairness I can see why some people would fall for it after all gas safety etc is of great importance and no one wants to fall foul of the law except this wasnt the law in my case just a couple of blokes probably well qualified gas engineers trying to take advantage, Cheeky buggars !!

Yeah.....like Repsol were actually gonna send this bunch after they were here themselves only 4 weeks earlier !
