The Entertainment Petition

Anyone know what has happenned?
Tommy and/or the Mayor promised us answers before last weekend?

hopfully we will hear something soon "friendlyviking" but if it concerns the council my friend,....how long is a piece of string? or where does your lap go when you stand up? answers on a post card please!!! I'm sure tommy is doing his best,...just wish the council would show the same commitment,...but that would mean actually having to EARN the money they pocket every week/month,...so i will not hold my breath for a speedy response from them jobs worths,.....I was just wondering my old pal,...would it be possible for me to make a complaint of noise pollution when it comes to voting time and they go round in the cars playing that awful din from loud speakers (I pretty much assume they will not have a licence to be projecting that loud offensive racket into all the streets of la marina,...but then again,..i dare say it will be a case of "do as I say,..not do as I do) touting for votes? also would it be possible to have them charged by the police for littering at the same time,...as when the cars come round they throw hand fulls of of fliers out the window no bigger than a sheat of toilet roll?....oh i think i have just answered the question of what to do with the fliers, he he he,...it's about all they may be good for!!!

Drag,
I am positive that laws will be invoked to allow that horrific noise and litter spreading when The Mayor and Jeff wake up from their slumbers about a week before the election at which time the entire urb will be covered in tarmac lorries, gardners, road cleaners and an army of other services.

I have been putting updates on the site, and I can assure you that I have not promised answers to anyone within a time limit. I did say that I would like to see something happen by Easter, but than again that is out of my hands.
The latest information I can tell you is that the Mayor has had one meeting with one of the delegates in Alicante, but it did not go too well. Since then I have been invited to attend a further meeting with a more senior official, in Alicante. Unfortunately, this will not happen until after Easter. As usual, in Spain, things do not happen quickly.
Following the police visit to Rojos a few weeks ago, I had a meeting with Paulino and asked if he could speak to the powers that be, to try and get the police to act in a more sensible manner. Apparently, it was one phone call.Paulino said they are changing the procedure for complaints. If someone rings up, the police will first visit the persons home and get verification of their name and ID, and then ask what the complaint is. Following that they will then visit the premises that the complaint is aimed at.
This is where the police must use a bit of common sense, and of course, so should the bars.
I read last week that someone suggested that if Rojos get a special licence for music etc, that they should blast out the music so everyone can hear. This would be very silly and would cause problems for everyone. Whether you have a licence or not, if the music is too loud they will stop you.At the end of the day, we all have to play the game, and despite what some people think of the Mayor, he does seem genuinely keen to find a solution to this ongoing problem. I would suggest we give him a chance, and I, for one, will attend as many meetings as it takes to try and get this matter resolved.

Tommy,
Your memory has let you down!
Only a week or two ago the Mayor was to meet folks in Alicante, not Valencia which may prove more effective since the decisition makers are up there.
I quote " I will personally make sure that the petition is handed over and that answers are forthcoming"

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-03-22 17:04:40 UTC

Friendlyviking. Once again, you do not sound very friendly to me, and It looks like I have to dot the i's and cross the t's now. The meeting the Mayor had in Alicante was with a Valencian Government delegate. Does it really matter where the meeting was? You then intimated that I said ' I will personally make sure that the petition is handed over and that answers are forthcoming". I have checked my posts and I do not recall saying that. I did say that I would hand over the petition to the Mayor , which I did.I cannot demand answers as I do not have any powers to do that, but I will keep trying to get the results that we are all hoping for. I suppose you will be one of the first ones to comment if the petition does not go our way. Sadly, there are many people who have plenty to say, but don't want to get involved themselves.
Snide comments do not help, and I am always wary of people who don't use their real name.

Commented Tommy in La Marina 2013-03-22 19:13:49 UTC

Tommy,
Snide comments? Me unfriendly?
I am merely wondering if the President Group, through yourself, and the Major have got this sorted?
Sorry if my question offends you !

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-03-23 07:40:29 UTC

Surely he is the MAYOR not major think you are too quick with the fingers and comments at least the Presidents Association are trying to do something instead of sitting at the back of a Keyboard making unhelpful comments.

David,
Sorry I did not realise we had a walking Oxford Dictionary in our community ! Apologies !

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-03-23 16:04:21 UTC

Well said Tommy, my sentiments exactly. There are a lot of people who post up here under pen names. Its funny that the majority of people they "slag off" are the people with the guts to stand up and be counted. They are very good at loading the gun for other people to fire.

Commented Caroline in La Marina 2013-03-23 16:35:37 UTC

Tommy,
The wonderful Eve I assume is one of you right hand "men" with this effort. It seems from the way she speaks she makes herself available for all things and I therefore assume she she acts as she preaches and has placed herself at the forefront of this effort?
You may also remember at the outset I offered my services but my offer was not uptaken?

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-03-23 17:36:06 UTC

friendlyviking, I do not have to answer to you but, for your information I do not think Tommy has any idea who I am. I know who he is by sight but, apart from that, I have never spoken to the gentleman. As for being one of his right hand men, I have absolutely nothing to do with the entertainment on the Urb, and neither do I want to Thank you.

Commented Caroline in La Marina 2013-03-23 18:29:45 UTC

I am not going to go tit for tat with you. I have better things to do. For your information, I do not know Eve, but she sounds to me like she knows what she wants to say and is very articulate. You said that you offered your services at the beginning. So what stopped you? Where you waiting for an invitation? Hmmm like I said before, there are lots of people with plenty to say etc. Enough said.

Commented Tommy in La Marina 2013-03-23 18:45:49 UTC

I didnt want to comment on any of this but i will, regarding Tommy and doing his best to try and sort out the petition, ive had the pleasure of spending a few days around him and he is a decent bloke. He is going way beyond what he should be doing regarding the entertainment licence. Someone has to make a start and he has decuded to do something about it, i believe once the urb is in fulll swing in the summer the complaints will once again get out of control
Regarding the cricket pitch, i use to use if for running and exercise a year or so ago, id be there every afternoon, now it looks like Hampton Court flower show. It really does need a good couple of days spent on it for weeding it, i like cricket and id love to see a cricket game played on there.
So to Tommy good luck with the petiton and as for the cricket pitch, who knows.

Yeah,,,,Rock on Tommy

Commented goonerpeter in La Marina 2013-03-24 18:24:51 UTC

To be honest im just a bit annoyed, lets get this straight about the common sense thing. We played mr bojangles for two hours on a saturday afternoon and the Pilice stopped us when everyone was enjoying some chilled out music. Last night i went to the bins in Consum to empty our rubbish and at 1'15 am the music was pounding out of a bar at ten times plus the level we had.It seems to me NO comon sense is used at all/ How does one bar get away with it and another doesnt. Its been suggested to me who complained about our music and if its true im sure they would have been kept awake on saturday night. I have my own views but dont really think its worth airing them on here.

Commented [email protected] in La Marina 2013-03-24 21:08:34 UTC

I can only suggest getting someone to have a quiet word with someone in one of the noisy bars,,,find out what the tricks are.

Commented goonerpeter in La Marina 2013-03-24 22:16:43 UTC

To add insult a Police car drove round the car park several times and did nothing. If its against the law its against the law. Deal with everyone the same. I think we all know whats going on.

Commented [email protected] in La Marina 2013-03-25 08:05:23 UTC

keep a diary, times, dates, car reg, everything.

Commented goonerpeter in La Marina 2013-03-25 10:38:40 UTC

Friendlyviking? what do you mean precisely by making myself available for "All things".? The only thing I am involved with is the Charity Shop! But that does not mean that I cannot have an opinion on any other subject on this forum or are you the only person allowed to do that? If I am asked to help anyone I will do so, if it is in my power, but, other than that, I do not interfere. I have enough to do.

Commented Caroline in La Marina 2013-03-26 15:02:00 UTC

Eve
Good for you!

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-03-26 18:24:14 UTC

Can;t you complain too. After all fairs fair. Make it a level playing field

Commented nigelpatrick in La Mata 2013-03-26 18:56:22 UTC

^^^^nigel^^^^^
sorry no the cricket field in La marina is not a level playing field for all the dog sh*t and weeds that the council keep missing every time they go there to do the groundskeeping,...lol
Eve and richie and so many others do not like us normal people to have a point of view,...maybe we are a lower class of TAX PAYING RESIDENTS!! This is getting past a joke,..most people here pay tax's in one form or another so why can't people unite and make a stand for a piece of action from the council in all areas of concern that are being raised on this forum?,...or is that too hard?

Commented dragardian in Alicante 2013-03-26 19:57:44 UTC

If you want an english cricket pitch go back to england or clean it up yourself if really you want one. I am not using capitals because the uk is not the be all and end all of places. If it was so good there, why leave? Who gives a s... about cricket (in the real world) anyway.

Commented Squash in San Fulgencio 2013-03-26 20:27:29 UTC

^^^squash^^^
"who gives a sh*t?" you ask,...well possibly the people who donated the money,...over 600€ that up and vanished like a fart in the wind.
I never said that the UK was the be all and end all,..so where exactly are you coming from?

Commented dragardian in Alicante 2013-03-27 05:54:59 UTC

Dragardian i am just a pensioner in the lower tax bracket the same as most people on the Urb. I just happen to think, like a lot of other people, that there are more important things to worry about than a cricket pitch. I never have been, or never will be, interested in Cricket. Everyone is entitled to like or dislike as they please. If you have issues over monies then go to the people concerned and try and get it sorted. I would feel annoyed if I had put money to something that had not materialised but, I would go to the people concerned. You will only lose the sympathy of people who would have supported you, if you go attacking other people's reputations on this forum.

Commented Caroline in La Marina 2013-03-27 06:32:25 UTC

Thank you eve! I think we are now finding some common ground here,....If I do recall correctly questions have been asked in the direction of the right people,..but alas it fell on deaf ears,..so it is just a case possibly of all concerned to grin and bear the conciquencies of the fact the money has gone,..I for one have never set out to rubbish/mar anyones reputation other than I just ask simple questions and desire an answer from the relevent source of public information i.e. the people at the council,..this info has not been forth coming from any source,..weather it be a cricket pitch, bars/music (other than tommy) and any other areas of interest to all the other users of this forum it is the publics agent e.g. Jeff at the council who should be at the forefront of helping people out with issues that they find relevent to their community,..but this has not been the case I am sorry to say.
Yes the cricket pitch issue did get a bit long winded on here and I dare to say the bars/music topic is going to be around all throughout summer which is very sad for people trying to make their business a success,..that will also impact on the tourist trade and the turn over of shops/charity premises (as when my mother in law comes over for a holiday, she loves rummaging round in the charity shops for a bargain!) we as a community need to look after our area and make sure it is not left to go to seed and assistance in promotion and backing from the local council would go a long way to help individual and or group goals,..if ever I have come accross as being stuck up my own ar*e on certain issues that arise on this forum,..it is only because I care for my now adopted town/community of residence and do not want to see it collapse into a ghost town.

Commented dragardian in Alicante 2013-03-27 08:34:20 UTC

There is clearly a growing swell of disenchantment with issues going on in Quesada and La Marina but nothing will be achieved by simply moaning about things on forums such as this. Plus no one will make much if any difference by going it alone. I am assuming a lot of people living on the urbanisations are retired or at least have the time to do something collectively. All it would take is a few like minded people to actually take up the gauntlet. Publicity in local papers, radio etc will highlight those issues to a much wider audience and I dare say would embarass those at fault into taking more appropriate action, such as the clearly poor inappropriate actions of the police with the dealing of afternoon music stiffling the life blood out of the urb.
