Could Maddie be alive and well in Nerja?

ASL Member Founding Member Mensaje #15315 Respuestas cerradas

A CRACK police outfit investigating the disappearance of Cordoba toddlers Ruth and Jose Breton has been called in to investigate a possible sighting of Madeleine McCann in Nerja.

While there have been numerous ‘sightings’ in Spain since the British toddler disappeared from the Algarve in 2007, this is not the first in the Axarquia region.

According to reports, there have been at least two alleged sightings in Nerja, and as the Olive Press revealed two months ago a sighting was reported by police by Yvonne Tunnicliffe who claims to have spotted Maddie Mercadona store in Alhaurin el Grande, just 20 miles away.

“I’m certain it was Madeleine, I wouldn’t even say I’m 99 per cent sure, I’m 100 per cent sure,” said Yvonne Tunnicliffe, who has lived in Spain for six years.

“She had mousy blonde hair in scruffy plaits, very fair skin and looked about seven or eight, which is how old she would have been now,” said the former M&S worker.

Now, Portuguese police have asked their Spanish counterparts to follow up a tip-off that the child was spotted in Nerja.

Fresh inquiries are now being made by officers from Malaga’s Judicial Police’s Central Specialised and Violent Crime Unit – the same unit investigating the disappearance of Ruth and Jose Breton who disappeared on October 8 from a Cordoba park.

Rogerio Alves, the McCanns’ Portuguese lawyer, called the cold-case review a ‘very positive sign … the most plausible explanation is information acquired by the police has put them on the trail of something specific.’

Hi,
I wish this could be true,
i dont think so though, if anyone was 100% sure it was Madeleine they would follow carefully, if in a car you would take details, and report it immediatley.
I know i would, i would descretly observe and follow.

Feel so sorry for the Child for having such lousy parents!

ASL Member Founding Member 2012-08-10

Do you know them?

ASL Member Founding Member 2012-08-10

Poppy do you enjoy always picking people, who you do not know, to pieces. I would not like to be one of your neighbours.

ASL Member Founding Member 2012-08-11

you know nothing of them so why judge?. You'd do better to pray that you or someone else doesn't make the same mistake. I will probably be judged as an admirable parent but I was lucky. I placed my kids in danger (which I didn't realise) but I got away with it. Bless her parents, they have suffered enough without people who don't know the full circumstances judging them.
Poppy, if you've never been in a similar situation, count your blessings and say a prayer for these poor people who will never know peace

Absoloutley true Mazza, we have all seen the dangers involved from time to time whilst parenting, however very often we see them in hindsight. Mr & Mrs Mcann must live in uter torrment and anguish. Poppy when you look in the mirror and see perfection, then you will be qualified in judging others!!

Patricia, how true. As Parents all most of us try to do is our best. How dare anyone judge?. Who is perfect?. I don't know any decent parent who hasn't said "There but for the grace of God go I." Why can't people leave the McCanns alone?. Is it jealousy because they percieve them as being rich ?. My heart breaks for them. A few years ago my daughters and I took their 5 kids to the beach. We didn't get together often and we were having a lovely gossip and a laugh. We suddenly noticed our youngest baby was missing. How could 3 adults and 4 older children lose the baby. She'd wandered away and it took about 5 minutes (which of course felt like 5 weeks) to find her. In that time she could have been abducted or wandered into the sea or onto a road. We were lucky as most of us are. Please. can't we have compassion and not sit in judgement x

I do know this...I would NEVER leave my Children on there own, in an Apartment whilst on Holiday or otherwise!

ASL Member Founding Member 2012-08-12

If this had been a single parent leaving two very young children alone in an apartment while they went for a drink and meal with their friends how do you think the social services would have reacted?
As these two 'parents' were supposedly 'young professionals' they were allowed to get off scot free with no punishment.
If we went away with young kids we took them with us, even letting them sleep in chairs by our sides.
On the continent it is normal to take family with you. Why didn't they? Totally wrong of them and they should have been prosecuted to the full aspect of the law - even for accessories after the act!

ASL Member Founding Member 2012-08-13

Peter, I'm not saying I understand what happened wwith the McCanns but I don't think they got off Scott free. They lost a child and I don't think they will ever be able to forgive themselves. I think remarking on their social standing is hardly fair. I posted about how we "Lost" our baby for 5 minutes. In the Coastrider this week a child slipped out of the house and was drowned in the pool. As I stated we were lucky, not everyone is. PLease don't judge, it helps nobody, pray for them

ASL Member Founding Member 2012-08-14

The McCanns WERE lucky!
They only lost one child!
It could have been two!
There are enough pervert around these days.

If she had been a single mum from a council estate in peckham or somewhere similar social services would have been crawling all over them & any other child would have been in care so fast the feet would not have touched the floor ,i understand they then use Max Clifford as a publicist,i feel for the child not them.

ASL Member Founding Member 2012-08-15

I'm going to have to agree with the last two comments. It's like the Sarah Payne case. I feel for her parents having lost a child the way they did and in the manner it happend. What is disgusting is how her the family reaped in thousands of pounds from the sun newspaper, the paper pretty much purchase there house for them and it made the mum thousands of pounds.
It still does not take the fact away that they lost there child in a horrific way.
As for the Mccans case, sorry you do not leave your child alone asleep why you both swan off to go for a meal or drink.
Like the last two comments of it was a council estate mum and dad they would of been charged with some form of child neglect

when I was very young till about 40's my opinions were very strong and I knew everything about myself. There were lots of "Id never do this or that".After 40 I looked at the larger picture and realised that we a make mistakes and judging people when we don't know the full story isn't helpful to anyone. In my 60's and 70's I have more compassion than I've ever had before and I just thank Our Blessed Lord that He has kept me and my family safe as I realise now my actions weren't always the most sound. Please, let's leave the McCanns in peace, unless of course you WERE THERE and really know the truth.

ASL Member Founding Member 2012-08-15

We do know the truth! How much more do you need to know that the two scumbags left BOTH children alone while they went to enjoy themselves. This came from the two people who were there and do know what happened.

ASL Member Founding Member 2012-08-15

what is there to know the kids were left alone ,end of story i am amazed how people have been taken in by this pair i just cannot get my head round it.

ASL Member Founding Member 2012-08-16

The hardest part is these people, Mazza and Patrica, think they are correct and think we are the minority! oh my God - Let's pray they say!

ASL Member Founding Member 2012-08-16

EXACTLY Peter!

ASL Member Founding Member 2012-08-16

Peter, how wrong you are. I think these people made a tragic mistake for which they'll pay for the rest of their lives. Why do you hold so much venom in your heart.? Do you honestly think they did this so their kids could be harmed.?? Does that help Maddie? These poor people made a mistake and they pay every day of theire lives. I just thank God I was lucky in my choices. Please tell me who do you help by being so nasty. Does it help Maddie? or anyone else. God help you, you need to find peace in your heart. God bless you x

ASL Member Founding Member 2012-08-16

Thank god Mazza - well said and well done. These people have paid a huge price for their mistake - and have to live with it for the rest of their lives, I do wish the rest of you had some compassion for the family - not forgetting poor little Maddie - we all make huge mistakes in our lives..

ASL Member Founding Member 2012-08-16

mazza you say leave the Mccanns in peace? it is they that keep putting thereselves in the public eye just 2, questions for all you that think we should feel sorry for them ,1/Have any of you seen that woman cry because i have not ,2/ I have not heard the father speak once ,i may be wrong on this but i have never seen her cry or the husband speak.

ASL Member Founding Member 2012-08-16

My last comment will be. I earnestly hope and pray that none of you make similar mistakes. We're talking about parents who made a tragic mistake. How can anyone not feel sympathy for them, and anyone with any amount of maturity who is an honest parent and can say they honestly never placed their kids in jeapardy is luckier than everyone I know. As I've said many times "There but for the grace of God go I". I wish you could feel peace in your heart instead of hatred. That helps nobody and hurts you. Go with God xx

ASL Member Founding Member 2012-08-16

Mr McCann has spoken on many occasions - and as for Mrs McCann, we all deal with our grief in different ways, and reading this barage of abuse towards them, thank god we are all different

ASL Member Founding Member 2012-08-16

It was there CHOICE to leave there Child on her own along with her siblings!!!NOT a MISTAKE!!!!!

ASL Member Founding Member 2012-08-17

you mean because we dont aggree with you & mazza we are full of hate ?wrong i do not hate them , i just do not like double standards & this what happened in this case as my mum used to say you make your bed you lye in it they made theres there was a baby minding service why did they not use it ? there was no excuse it was not a mistake it was negligance pure & simple, they hurt every day if there daughter is alive wich i doubt she is the one that is hurting & deserves every bit of sympathy etc that there is not those two, theycontributed to it ,if it was a dog left in a car that had died it would be interesting to see the reaction of some people on here.My last comment on this subject

ASL Member Founding Member 2012-08-17

I didnt say hate - I said barage of abuse - you will find that is totally different...

ASL Member Founding Member 2012-08-17

that did not come out as intended i ment because we did not aggree with you & mazza my punctuation is not alway's the best sorry for any offence caused .still stand by the rest of my post.i do not consider my post abusive most of it is based on facts that can be checked.

Hi Maz and to all who have commented on this post,
Im afraid I also feel strongly enough to commment at this stage.

I am a mature, non hating,, non venemous mother and have had enough experience in my life not to judge others however, no matter how sympathetic any of us wish to be (or not) I have mulled this scenario over and over in my mind a hundred times and im afraid I will NEVER be able to understand why the parents left the children unattended in the way they did, for the reasons they did.

Had it been an emergency and they'd ran out of the apartment momentarily to attend to something urgent then yes I could understand, but im afraid nothing in this world would have pursuaded me to leave my children willingly, knowingly and by choice, for a prolonged period for what seems to have been no more than to socialise?

Had the parents been on their own patio socialising while the children were in bed, within earshot and sight of any exit or entry to the property then yes, that is a totally resonable precaution, anything less than that just isnt.

I can honestly say I have never knowingly put my children in danger of abduction, not because im perfect far from it, but common sense and accountability would never allow me to make such an irrational and irresponsible decision where three little lives depended upon me.

It is a fact the Macaan children were left " home alone" for reasons best known to their mum and dad.

Their twins, Shaun and Amelie were even younger and more vulnerable than Maddie and as we all know other parents have been prosecuted for such actions and I do ask myself why not the Mcaans what was so different on this occassion?

Lets not forget Mrs Mcaan explained that Maddie had already cried to her about not coming to see to her the night before when she was crying for her. Was that not enough to stop mum and dad leaving them again, was that not a big enough alarm bell to let them know the children were waking in their absence and that Maddie in particular was crying for her mum?

I can understand Maz wanting to show compassion but I can honestly say it certainly isnt for the grace of god that my children werent left unattended, it was because I made a conscious decision not to leave them unattended, ever, and while the story Maz refers to of the child drowing after having slipped out of the house, that I can understand, that was tragic and seems to have happened in a very short space of time, the Macaans scenario on the other hand is entirely different, it happened over a prolonged period and to my knowledge it happened on more than one occasion

I dont think its fair to criticise members of the forum for being angry over the Macaans I think natural parental feelings of incredulity have been voiced as to how on earth this happened and yes, some opinions have been more aggressive than others but I beleive thats just the human condition responding to a very emotive subject.

In the final analysis only Kate and Jerry Macaan have the answers unless of course Maddie turns up safe and well

Kind regards
Debra

Thank God for another's input. This shows 'the Bible bashers', for want of another phrase, how out of touch they are with the general consensus.
As I asked previously", why were the McCanns not prosecuted either by the Portuguese authorities or the British when they returned home?"
Grow up and come into the real world where 'normal' people do NOT leave their children alone. Especially when there is a sitting service provided!
