more questions???

Hi, we have decided to move to La Marina, we were looking at Almoradi or Albatera, but I have a 13 year old daughter and I think its best to move to an area that has more English people to start with?? well anyway could anyone tell me about the schools in the area, are they within the urbanisation or far away??? I dont drive so would this be a problem? Think thats all for now, I am having yet another sleepless night with everything going through my head.

There would be no problem getting your daughter to school from La Marina as each morning we see several school buses go past our office. The main schools are about 2 miles away in San Fulgencio. Will you be buying or renting when you come over?? People who do not speak Spanish prefer this area as there is a good mix of English speaking people.

hi Ian,

Thanks for getting back to me. We will be renting to start, just to see if we like it.
I did look to moving to a Spanish village at first (which I would prefer eventually), but because of our lack of Spanish at the moment and one of my daughters ages I though it would be best to move to a place that has more English people to start. Do you know if the buses are school buses? because my other daughter is only 5 I dont realy want to put her on a school bus on her own.

Taxing Day

An attorney got home late one evening after a very taxing day trying to get a stay of execution for a client, named Wilbur Wright, who was due to be hanged for murder at midnight. His last minute plea for clemency to the governor had failed and he was feeling tired and depressed. As soon as he got through the door his wife started on about, "What time of night do you call this? Where have you been?" ... and on and on.

Too shattered to play his usual role in this familiar ritual, he went and poured himself a very large whisky and headed off for a long hot soak in the bathtub ... pursued by the predictable sarcastic remarks.

While he was in the bath the phone rang, which the wife answered and was told that her husband's client had been granted his stay of execution after all. Realizing what a day he must have had, she relented a little and went upstairs to give him the good news.

As she opened the bathroom door she was greeted by the sight of her husband's rear view as he bent over naked drying his legs and feet.
"They're not hanging Wright tonight," she said. The attorney whirled around and screamed hysterically, "For crying out loud woman, don't you ever stop?"

Taxing day - that is very funny.

supermarkets

Hi,are there a few supermarkets in the area? and are they more expensive than say in a village? what are the prices like to eat out and for drinks. Is it more expensive because its an urb??

La Marina

There are many supermarkets and at good prices. We even have an Iceland store.

La Marina urbanisation is really like most places - you need to pick the restaurants you eat and drink in if you do not wish to be ripped off. We usually go for the menu del dia. One particular restaurant we go is only 10 euros each. You get bread/ali oli, soup or salad or croquettes as Starters, main meal (good choice), pud or coffee plus a bottle of wine between 2 persons. SO, that's really good !! We went there on Friday evening (Satellite Sports Centre) and Michael Star was entertaining.

This Friday Evening

I think the young man who is performing this Friday at the Sports Centre is the same one I say at Rincon de Luna a while back his name is Michael Star, he was very good and at the end of the Evening he came on as Elvis. Worth going to see.

This singer used to appear up on the Strip at La Bodega, but have not seen him around for a while, he is very good. Cant understand why more of the local acts dont bother to mention up on these forums where they will be next. After all there is a FREE Events section

Commented Douglas in La Marina 2011-05-18 22:19:23 UTC

Quite agree - Michael Star is an excellent entertainer. We have had many good nights out at various venues with Michael entertaining. Plus, of course, he takes off Elvis at the end of the evening - Worth waiting for !!
If you are an Artist and are appearing locally put "it up" (sorry about that) in the EVENTS Section. It's Free, so why not get some Free Publicity ?????
