SATELLITE DISHES

Yes. we've got our own satellite dish. Very pleased with it. Got 4 cables coming off it, 2 for us and 2 for our neighbours.
I believe that the satellite has changed recently, but actually our picture is better than ever. In fact I would say that it's the sharpest tv picture I've seen anywhere. We're tuned in to ITV1 Meridian S.E. (the area we came from) and it absolutely romps in here, as do BBC/ITV/Channel 4/Channel 5 etc etc. The digibox tuner finds 400+ channels.

do you pay a monthly subscription for this ? I started with the old microwave system in 2004,the company got shut down,now pay a monthly subscription when over but have to pay the recconection fee each time,so thinking of installing a dish and just have the free channels that way no monthly bills,not even sure if the old microwave sysem is legal now,

Micro wave signals will NEVER be legal. Anyone that tells you otherwise, is one you need to ignore. However its a question of getting caught! Telemicro were brought down in a big way, and we thought the others would follow. Nothing happened and most are still transmitting! Satellite dish nobody can police. if the signal is there you are picking it up from the satellite, (even then you are not supposed to be watching it, but you can with a large enough dish) The channels have moved and the signal is unaffected. There will be more changes likely, and probably have no affect on us? Do nothing to UNTIL something does affect you. Some companies will happely scare you into doing (and spending) when possibly those with big dishes will see no change. I am refering to people with dishes 1.9-2.4 meter in size. If you have a smaller dish, who knows, but I would guess they would be affected, BUT RUSH OUT AND BUY A NEW DISH YET!!!

Thanks for your help, unfortunately I will have to put the idea on the back burner for the time being " bottom teeth in half" so will have to sort that first.

Eve, don't worry about your bottom set. I'll send round the lovely Mr Smith with his gunge gun and super glue. He can mend anything with them. If I thought we'd get planning permission I'd get him to build an extension to hold all his rubbish x

Thanks for the offer of help Mazza. I had them mended in just over 3 hours at the Dentist, next to the opticians, by Super Value. A very good job they made of them as well. 70 euros it cost me which is better than paying about 500-600 euros for a new set. A new set would take a lot of getting used to. So I would recommend them to anyone.
