I have a friend moving over to Spain next year and her mobility badge for the car has now run out. Could anybody please let me know how she can renew this again? Where does she need to go and how much will it cost? Does she need to get her Dr out here to sign a form? Thank you for your help.
The first stop is your Local Town hall.for the forms etc.then find a decent translator,you will need your Spanish Doctor to write a report,all normal paperwork (i.e padron ,Nie,etc.
she will then be graded into priorities,from what a Friend of mine went through she will have to prepare for what could be a long wait,
Sorry i cant be more positive.He paid almost 300euros alone for the translator
If she has not moved to Spain yet, get her to re-new it in the UK as it is valid to be used in Spain.

I diid check up on this,and your U.K.badge is only valid in Spain if you are visiting Spain,buy not if you living in Spain it must be one issued in the area you live,also if you have a spanish badge it may only be valid in the area you live.I made this mistake when i moved to Spain,i was lucky as mine was never checked,but many people still believe you can live over in Spain with, and use your U.K. badge.If you google' blue badge in Spain'many of the links explain this
Well Alan, we have used our UK disabled badge for parking since we moved to Spain in March and have not had any problems and we have used it in many different areas and towns.
I know exactly what you are saying Linda,When I came over my U.K. mine still had two years on it,I thought that it could be used in all Euro Countries,and did so with no problem what so ever,in fact worth its weight in gold in places like Benidorm,It wasnt until mine was near expiry that I looked at the rules (Once you have been in Spain,you begin to see what rules and laws they use,when they need to fill up the petty cash tin)and the rules state as I have said previously.I should think everybody with a blue badge from other Euro. Countries do exactly as you and i have done,and undoubtably will do.I shouldnt think many people will be stopped by the Police,Until the Councils petty cash needs topping up
Just checked our disabled badges Alan and they have the EU Emblem on them.

I think this article can run and run,have spent even more time,on google trying to find what is officialSurprise surprise,Have found about a dozen different answers,some it is valid,some it isnt valid,a couple of ask at your local town hall,and one from the AA which says you must put a notice alongside the badge in Spanish,I have had this e-mailed to me,so if you think it may be of some use at some time,contact me and I will e-mail it to you.
Needless to say I am non the wiser as to the actual Spanish rule (I will say,as far as Eu rules go it is valid in all EU Countries)but that doesnt mean anything to the local town halls.
As far as I am concerned ,I used mine constantly but did not renew it.
Also are you aware that on the 2nd of Jan.The badge itself changes in appearance and look and the price of renewal goes up from two pounds to ten pounds.

I used it for my Mum from 2004 to 2007 until it ran out. Used in la Marina and also Elche hosp no probs, but the hassle of getting a new one here wasnt worth it - not just as simple as going to your GP - oh no they have to make it difficult..
