Feeling apprehensive about holiday in La Marina!

Nothing wrong with La Marina, the noise and arguing you read about on this forum, is an annual affair that we locals do, just before the Summer Holidays start, in the hope it will stop the bloody holiday makers coming here and spoiling the place with there shouting and drinking, and there kids causing havoc, You have to realize we want our peace and happiness all to ourselves. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work and the tourists come back year after year, which means we have to pre

-book at restaurants, queue up in supermarkets, wait to be served in bars, and sometimes even sit in small traffic jams.
I am sure you realize why we use this Forum to frighten you lot away,Shame for us it doesn't work, You still come over here and go home telling everyone you meet what a great holiday you had here, what a lovely place la Marina is and the wonderful helpful locals are just fantastic. So the following year even more of you come over
I am a pensioner but I always remember my old Dad telling me many many years ago he would say 'Son always remember,believe none of what you read,and half of what you see, and you will get through life quite easily'. So come over stop worrying and get your batteries recharged

Please don't be worried. I am sure you will have a lovely time in La Marina. Although there are problems with the bars having live entertainment if you look around the urb you will always find something going on somewhere, whether it's a singer/group, karaoke, bingo or a quiz night. Local beaches are lovely. We have lots of bars and restaurants to choose from and we're just half hour from Alicante or an hour from Benidorm. There are daily coach trips at really reasonable prices if you don't have car hire, to lots of good places. Despite what you read on here the locals are in fact very friendly, so come and enjoy yourself,try it out, see for yourself and make your own mind up. Hope you have a fantastic holiday.

I am going to come on holiday, it seems many of the gripes some folk have are of their own making, perhaps they should adopt Alan's wise words & embrace the only life they have with a bit of que Sara Sara .

Dont worry about the (very very few ) bad points they are there if you want to find them but the good point are always there for all to enjoy some people just have to see the bad points to keep there sad lives going !!!! and disrupt the smooth running of the place at times its a bit hit and miss, but it is what you make of it

we too are coming in two weeks ... first time for us and first time in peak period as all of my working life has been in the leisure trade and in holiday resorts where we have the influx of 'grockles' .. who provided us with jobs and income - as well as traffic jams, full restaurants, packed bars, high noise levels ... can't wait to be 'on the other side' of it!!! We chose La Marina because of lovely reports and the fact that it is an ex pat area and it's location seems ideal for us. I'm sure we'll have a great time and we are looking forward to visiting the bars cafe's and restaurants as even though the villa kitchen looks excellent ... we want to sample the local fayre!! Hope we have some within walking distance as it would be nice not having ot drive every night... and I promise we will be quiet on the journey back to the villa!!!!

Thank you 2nd casa, yes I guess a holiday is what you make it, like life really, you get out of it what you put in to it, I have resolved to come with the intention of having a great time. Feeling positive!

You too x I actually had my own businesses and employed over 25 staff so we needed the tourist business... and I was not born and bred there I chose to move there and operate the businesses out of there so even though I would be annoyed at having to wait in line at the bank and get stuck in the traffic on the only road in and out of the town it was all part and parcel of the place..... and I knew what I was getting onto when I moved there. Rudeness and bad manners are everywhere in this world and can affect others around so hopefully we'll both have good holidays and won't encounter too many of the 'unwanted' elements !!! I for one am so looking forward to it .. I am the holiday grockle .. in peak period yippppeeee ! and chose this area purposely ... and am looking forward to meeting the locals who have been so helpful to me on here regarding questions and queries and advised me on who to contact re car hire so I'd like to thank them all again for their help!

I just wondered Bev as I knew a Bev Nash from the Forest of Dean. My mum was brought up in the Valleys in South Wales. She spent her childhood from the age of five, in Abertysswg. I used to love to go there and Phillipstown in New Tredegar, to see my relations when i was little.

OMG...... this is unbelievable... I am from Rhymney!!!! If your mother is around the 50 mark then we probably went to school together!! or I might even know the family .. small world x now what are the chances of that!! Have private messaged you Bev as you suggested. I hope you enjoy your holiday in la marina. i have lived here for 11 years and its a great life, even with all the moaners, but, they are everywhere. Even in the "Scarets Club" if you know where that is.

Hi Caroline, I can't find your message... did you post it on Facebook? i't's our first time coming to La Marina so I don't know where anything is or what it's like and I would love any information you could give x I still can't believe your mother is from Aber... what are the chances of that!!! Glad to hear you're loving it out there x it's going to be such a difference for me actually going anywhere in main season .... and I'm not over fond of crowds ha ha but we have a villa so at least we have our own pool ... just need to find the best supermarket now x I don't know if there are private messages on this forum hence I said facebook... as I wouldn't put my email address on here. Yes it's such a coincidence but the area I live in, is quite small and everyone knows everyone or their families .. although times are changing.
