Entertainment Licence

The Pres Assoc had a follow up meeting with the Mayor Carlos Ramirez, Jeff Wyznewski, Paulino Herrero and the Chief Of Police. The main subject was the clarification of the rules concerning the new Entertainment Licence. Main points are: All entertainment must cease at midnight. Noise to be kept to a reasonable level. On closing, all bars must remove all tables and chairs from terraces. The licence will be FREE of charge. The Town Hall will undertake to visit all bars and go through the application process. Compliance of the rules will be strictly observed.
It was felt that, if everyone complies with the rules, it will reduce the anti social behaviour that occurs when people hang around the bar terraces.
There are over 400 provinces in the Valencia region, and this is the first time anything like this has been done, so I would think that Valencia will be watching with great interest. I think we can all see this as a new start, so the bars need to make this work, and work together to make this a success.
It should be noted that Mayor Carlos Ramirez has done a lot of work, along with Paulino, to make all this happen. No previous administration has even attempted anything like this. A lot goes on behind the scenes that people do not know about, so credit where credit is due.

La Marina

Tommy well done, I hope every bar you go in offers you a drink on the house. You have put a lot of work into this along with the other guys behind the scene. I'm not going to be negative about this but to hear you say the mayor and Paulino put a lot of work into this shows how much lack that the councillor of the Urb, yes HIS Urb done pretty much nothing apart from photo copying. That's that. Lets hope all the bars stick to it and keep it going and everyone can enjoy a good time. Well done.

Got to say well done to everyone concerned, with this new agreement,I cannot see anything negative in what is planned,Completely gobsmacked that the license will come free of charge,Also I admit that I may of been wrong when i accused the Mayor of being arrogant a few months ago.I have never found anything wrong with Paulino and I still believe that he is to man to see if you have a problem.
Only thing i find missing is what happens to the moaners who complain about noise when it doesnt exist, are the Police going to enforce some sort of waste of police time policy.
So well done to everyone involved in trying to put La Marina back on the map, lets hope some idiots dont try and spoil it for us all.

That is great news Tommy, well done. You have broken through the system. Hope the time wasters now get a flea in the ear. Only hope that bar owners keep a very tight check on the volume artistes are pumping out, as normally most acts pump up the volume to loud as the evening goes on.

Way to go Tommy. Looks like all your hard work has paid off xx

Well done! Lets just hope that ALL the bar owners respect the new rules, or they screw it up for everyone!

Think everyone has said it before but well done Tommy this would not have happened without you, hope something can also be done about the people that call out the police for no reason they need to be charged with wasting police time, Please please all the bars please stick to all the rules its in your hands now

Delighted to hear that your hard work has paid off, Tommy. We've been right behind you all the way although sceptical about the outcome. We are pleasantly surprised after having looked into obtaining a license and the costs of sound proofing the bar with quotes in the region of around 30,000 euros. So why was this not dealt with years ago? And howcome, oh never mind I don't want to question too much as the outcome is victorious. Tom you have done well and as others have said let's hope that the bar owners adhere to the rules and don't cause La Marina to have this overturned. We've seen it in the papers but wanted to hear it from the horse's mouth.
So along with the much wanted opening of the Hillside pool this year lets revive La Marina and give the majority what they really want.
Call in Tom because your drink is waiting on Cagney's bar for you.
Thank you from us all.

Well done to Tommy and everyone for the effort put into this. NOW lets all make it work as the eyes of Spain maybe on us, and put La Marina on the map for something positive.

Well Done Tom, so pleased with the outcome. Must say with no entertainment, La Marina would be dead. Thank you for all your hard work. Lets hope the moaners now stop!!!

are the authorities aware of the vindictive few,, when they come out of the woodwork,,that the complaints they make are proved to be non existent,,
they just have a vendetta against bars, restaurants and Brits,,,,,, Marie,, changed your name again ???

I heard that all terraces must be cleared by 1.30am. If this is correct does it include the bars that have the late licences?
I also understand that from June 1st, if there is a complaint about noise. the police will go to the complainants address first and take a reading on a noise meter. If below 50 then no action will be taken. Again - is this true or LMB?

John f
I am sure you will hear many things before you get the facts.I am sure that anything you are told,is pure guesswork. The speed this council works at I would expect a few weeks before facts are actually given, even then I would have trouble believing them

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-05-05 12:05:53 UTC

Well done Tommy. So far I havn't seen any adverse comments from the usual complainers, they must be wondering how they can put a negative spin on this. But as most people are 100% behind you and the council for all the effort I doubt they will put their heads above the parapet.

Commented jaytee in La Marina 2013-05-05 16:37:42 UTC

Get a life Alan, this council has actually done some thing positive, more than can be said for the last lot.

What a turnaround. Well done to those concerned in making this happen. I was one of the first owners on La Marina, back in 1986, although I now live in Catral/Dolores and I was getting depressed with the way things were going on the Urb. Great news! Paddythepalm

What a bunch of Wa@@@s the police are.. For a couple of day on the trot the police have harassed the Woodstock bar for music. On one occasion there was no music at all there was just so many in there. This is failing already. 2 nights on a row at least the police have been there before 11 pm and done this. This will not work if this is what will be happening. John will happily tell you what went on

Commented Andi in La Marina 2013-05-06 06:14:28 UTC

Record and log all the details, time, police ID numbers etc,all the bars need to get together keep a log,
still need to know the decibel/sound limit from the police and produce a decibel meter to the police when they arrive.
some t*****r is sitting there laughing, got to find out who ???? def someone well in with the police,,in UK you could complain about harassment of someone trying to run a business,,no chance over here. maybe Tommy could ask who and why.
