Live Music Outside

whats this one bar getting at another why didnt you denounce them like all other bar owners do.no need to show the youtube clip just ask the question.

David we're not interested in causing trouble or denouncing any other bars or anyone for that matter, I would just like to know if live music outside is now permitted, its a simple enough question & this site is for finding out information.

Quite agree with you Hog's Head. The majority of us on the urb just wish to have a happy peaceful life and go out in the evening and enjoy ourselves with a little bit of entertainment while having a meal and drink. SO, David, if you have nothing pleasant to say just BUTT OUT and get yourself a life instead of trying to ruin others.............................

Thanks for that Carol but answer this why did Hogg,s head put this on here why didnt they either ask Jeff on his Blog or get of there butts and go and ask Jeff at his office. I am one who thinks all the complaints about live music is stupid bars need to make money to survive that will help La Marina survive but as I said this should not have been put on here.

Thanks Carol, We agree with you & Ian, this is Spain, music in the open under the stars, responsibly played (the video is a good example of this), finishing at a respectable time, instead of behind closed doors, this is what the majority of La Marina wants, it's certainly what the tourist wants, however we will still abide by the rules set out by mayor Carlos until we're told otherwise.

Here we go again. It seems to me that The Sports Complex provided the venue and a reasonable meal to cater for this Charity Event. Tom Marr gave up his own time, and he is here on holiday, to help raise much needed funds for all the dogs already in the kennels at Dolores. It is not a matter of SAT helping out with these animals as and when they can afford it, these animals are already in residence and need to be fed, and looked after. With the economic situation as it is things are getting harder. I know a lot of you are not animal lovers but these animals cannot be put down on a whim. So, before anyone starts criticising, stop and think. A lot of hard work went into the Dinner & Dance and people gave up there valuable time to make it happen. The last thing any of them need is all this back biting. Nothing in life is ever fair, and all the moaning won't make any difference.

How do you put a question on jeffs blog,because I have never seen one.In fact the only way to get an answer in writing by jeff seems to be to put a comment on the Spanish Life.
It was reported on this forum not to long ago ,that all bars who play music must have a license for that purpose,live music was described as any thing where a microphone is used (even Quizzes)and that all speakers etc must be behind closed doors and closed windows.
From what I have seen in the past two weeks is on at least two occasions a section of the Strip closed to traffic to allow music (one from a group,and one for a fashion show) both of which had speakers and microphones on the closed section of the road,Both of these were well attended and enjoyable,in fact more of which is needed to keep the Urb alive.on this alone the Hogs Head is entitled to ask have the rules changed,If so,can they be told what has to be done so that they can perhaps afford to compete with other places,or do they abide by what may be out of date rules,and slowly be driven to losing everything

I dont think anybody writing on this, is complaining about the Sports Complex having outside music for a charity event,In fact until recently the Sports Complex have had many a good night,which allowed us to eat and dance under the stars,but even they a couple of weeks ago started having having aggravation from the police and were in danger of cancelling outside enjoyment.
Eve and Co at SATS,Work hard for the charity and i dont think anybody would begrudge SATS one cent of what Eve and Co get for them.
It may be that a rumour is true and the Council have either had their hands tied by what they can or cant do,as all things to do with bars etc. now get the nod on what they can and cant do from Valencia this being so,it looks like Valencia may take a more relaxed attitude.

Following a visit to our bar last Tuesday, we would like to thank Jeff for his time & explanation regarding live music outside & we are happy to work within the town hall's guidlines as we have done so up to now. We have been recommended to purchase a professional decibel meter, which we have now done so, we will work within the limits set out by the town hall & the policia local who I believe now also have decibel meters. We believe if all bar owners that have any entertainment work with the Policia Local & use these decibel meters responsably, this will reduce the number of local complaints.

We first came across these decibel counters down in Torrevieja at the Emerald Isle. This is a large complex in the middle of an urbanisation. Similar kind of setup, to Hillside but a little larger. The entertainment in the summer is held outside by the pool. Several times you will notice the Manageress fussing around outside checking on sound with her amp meter. She is very quick to tell acts if they are over the limit. So interestingly the town hall has woken up to the fact that it is possible to have entertainment outside if done correctly up here on La Marina. I have now witnessed the other night Paulo the owner of the Sports checking sound with his new decibel counter in the roads closest to his establishment.
I really was starting to wonder if sense would prevail.
