Patron Saints Fiestas San Fulgencio 16th & 17th January 2012

The village of San Fulgencio has organised a week long programme of activities to honour their Patrons, San Fulgencio and San Anton. Why on earth is it a prerequisite to use rockets and fireworks to start and finish solemn processions, especially at 7:30 am and what's even worse is to bless all our little animals and then frighten them to death with rockets....give them a break for goodness sake.

Just a couple of points for Tina and Grant. I'm actually Scottish and when I lived in the U.K. I never encouraged explosives at any time, especially around animals and I don't see anything wrong with that.
I'm not suggesting that Spain should change it's ways because British people live here, that was Tina's suggestion, not mine. But I still find it odd that we should bless all the little animals in the name of San Anton (who was an Egyption by the way) and then set off explosives that scare them.

Bikerbee then why did you fire up that bike and go from Callander to the Green Wellie at Tyndrum and scare all these poor caravaners and car drivers.lol
PS thats my favourite run Stirling ,Callander ,Tyndrum Glen Coe, Oban and back down.

No mention on the Brotherhood Lunch at Oasis next Saturday 21st. Every year the BBQ area is opened for the fiesta of San Anton. Too late now though (as it seems to be kept a bit of a secret) Early Jan you need an application form from the Ayuntamiento complete with 7-10 names of people on the padron (1yr+) and you receive a large bag of meat, rice & bread to BBQ on site. Take your table, chairs, plates, wine, beer etc and have a good time.
It is a fantastic day.
Look forward to seeing those in the know on Saturday........
