Stop signs

The STOP signs on the streets of the urbanization? Some sort of decoration? Nothing to bother about?

Stop signs? What do they look like and what are they meant to stop?

Alan, your comment is probably the question most drivers ask themselves.
Especially after losing 4 "puntos" on their driver's license if they don't stop.

Reminds me of my courting days when "stop" meant "GO" !!!!

Stop signs are just that. designed to stop traffic and keep all drivers safe and to stop them from crashing into another innocent car driver doing the right thing. However even though these are universal european standard and are the same as in the UK and many other countries, they are ignored by a lot of drivers who seem to drive wearing blinkers which point them straight ahead blissfully ignoring other road users. For that reason I stop at EVERY junction, even if I DO have the right of way. Prevention is, after all better than the hassle you get afterwards or even a free stay in hospital or worse. So, please drive carefully, be observant and maybe stop anyway at junctions even if you know you have the right of way and can proceed. You never know, there could well be a homicidal maniac heading straight for you. So, spoil his/her day by stopping. They will all get to heaven long before I do. Make sure you do too. Word of waring also. There are still some who have been driving a long time in Spain who believe they have the right of way coming on to a roundabout and that those on it must stop and let them drive on to it. Watch out for that also. Please note, UK drivers and holiday makers. We drive on the opposite side so look left, right left and not the other way before coming out of a junction and please make sure you are on the correct side of the road. I have had many driving staight at me before realizing sudenly they are on the wrong side of the road. OK if you can move to the wrong side to let them pass but not always possible. If the local police were to be vigilant and stop and fine everyone breaking the driving laws of Spain, they could clear the national debt in no time at all!!!!!
