La Marina Hackers

Monday 7th November the La Marina Hackers held their monthly stableford at La Finca Golf Club.

As always we were warmly welcomed by all of the personnel and the course was in its usual immaculate condition. The weather was an improvement over the previous few days and the Society were eager to get onto the course, unfortunately, for a reason we do not really understand the practice area was closed and so having arrived in good time for a few practice swings we were left standing around for a while waiting for our tee times.

There was a good turnout from our members and we welcomed on this occasion six guests primarily from the other societies here on the urbanisation. It seems that they were taking advantage of the opportunity to play on a championship course.

A couple of our “star” players are indisposed or overseas, Ian Hilary played with a knee problem and Corky Corcoran, our treasurer, was on top form again after missing out at the last two games. Worth mentioning is the improvement of Kjell Dahl, one of our three Norwegian members, who before March of this year had never even held a club, yesterday he recorded 24 points compared to the 2,3 or 4 he was scoring 6 months ago. The grapevine tells me that he has spent a fortune on lessons!

After the game we returned to our 19th hole on La Marina Urbanisation for prize giving, a few well earned beers and a fine buffet supplied by “mein hosts” Jackie and John.

Our next match will be at El Plantio Golf Club on 14th December. On 15th December we will be holding our Christmas Dinner and Annual Prize giving at Ramon’s in La Marina for members and their guests.
