YaGe Chinese Restaurant

A large group of us thought we would try the YaGe Chinese Restaurant last night (opp the Chinese Warehouse on the N332)going off La Marina urb. We pre-booked a table for 13. Extremely nice looking restaurant as you walk in - our table Reserved. We eventually managed to catch the eye of the young Chinese girl to order our drinks. Eventually we were served with prawn crackers - But no Sangria. When asked why no Sangria - in poco English we were told none tonight. My friend went there on Monday and had Sangria. Not a good start - after all you do expect sangria with your prawn crackers don't you??? Twice I asked where our drinks were and eventually they came - we had been sitting there about an hour by now and I was dying of thirst. Eventually we ordered our food. I have never waited so long for food to be served - we were all starving and getting very fed up by now and also quite merry !!

Starters arrived - everyone was very impressed. My chicken soup was beautiful - served in a large bowl - so hungry I ate it all. The rest of the meal was also beautiful - my duck with pineapple - lovely and all enjoyed their food, except one friend who sent her tomato soup back as it tasted like dishwater, but was very quickly given chicken soup which she enjoyed.

Communal Toilets - very clean BUT no locks on any of the toilet doors. No way of squatting and holding the door at the same time as the loo was much too far away from the door, so you just had to hope nobody disturbed you in *mid-flow* as it were. I came out of the loo only to bump in to a "strange man" who said to me where are the directions? he he. I told him he was up the other end - well, if he'd come in a minute earlier and walked in to my loo I don't know who would have been more embarrassed.................

To Sum up - Do not go to the restaurant if you are in a hurry or if you are hungry and thirsty.
The meal was excellent when it finally arrived.
They need more staff on, especially as they new we were a large party.
We most certainly would not go in a large group again.
I wouldn't say we would not go back, but we would go in a group of say 4.
The price was very good.
MOST IMPORTANTLY - Take a friend to the loo with you he he That's it folks !!

An excellent night with great friends, but had to wait a long to to be served and I missed my sangria at the beginning, but all the ladies were given a lovely present of a bottle of chinese liquor at the end of the evening, now I am not going to say what Eve is going to do with hers hahaha x

Ahhhhhhhhh Carol. The lovely Mr Smith likes Ya Ge, I like Victoria near Consum but that's because I love the big spring rolls.
Last time we went to Ya Ge there were 4 of us (2 grandkids) and the service was very slow and the place wasn't busy. However there were a couple in and the lady didn't know her husband had told them it was her birthday. She wanted to strangle him when she realised what he'd done, but they gave her a lovely evening with a cake and a tape of Happy birthday and of course we all joined in. However, we've been there 3 times and only had Sangria the first time. Fetch the manager, I need to complain
I love this site, it's local and gossipy. We might be a bit low brow for some but it's like a pal dropping in. Keep it up folks xx

Last night we thought we would give the YaGe Chinese Restaurant another try - this time just us and 2 friends went along - after all everyone deserves a second chance don't they?
WELL, we had an excellent evening this time. Good service - we got our bottles of wine within 5 minutes of sitting at our table. The food was absolutely delicious and very friendly Chinese girl kept coming up asking if everything was ok (which it was). We would certainly go back again. Very reasonably priced as well.
Plus a bonus - One of the ladies loo now has a bolt on the door, so didn't have to worry about a man walking in on me ha ha x
