Bogus Gas Inspectors
I thought I would share a story with you that I read today in one of our free papers.
Two men looking very official and having I.D. Badges are telling people that they have faulty gas pipes.
On their offical (unoffical I.D. Badges) it says they are from Eurogas and they say they are working on behalf of Repsol.
They are saying that people need their regulator or pipes changing and charging from 50 euros!!!!!
They are then using what they have changed to put onto the next vunerable persons gas pipes.
The registration of their van is: 5074 HBD.
Hi I am from AJ's Bar on the Urb. Back last year we had 2 guys come into the bar with what looked like all the official paperwork, telling me they had to check our gas appliancies. They then told me that we needed to change the pipe and regulator connecting our plancha. Luckily I went next door to our neigbour Sotterin and asked what he knew of this as he supplies the gas bottles. He came back to the bar with me and spoke with the mens and basically told them where to go. He even calle the police as he said it was a scam. The police came and informed us that we were the 8th person who has called them that day! so people certainly need to be aware of this
I very nearly became a victim of these people last December as I had just purchased a new gas fire and they turned up the next day to check my fire. They came in and changed the regulator saying it was the wrong one. When they asked me for 41 euros I said I did not have any money, they asked for a cheque, I don't have a cheque book. They said they would be back the next day and I said I would be complaining to the Shop where I bought it because they did not say I would have to have it checked out when I bought it. I checked with the shop and they said it was a scam. They did not come back for their money. If they had they would have had a flea in their ear.
