Can anyone remember the name of the Bar at the Old Sports Centre, Next to the market? It seems that it is being done up and is about to open up some time soon. It has a lovely large pool area. But what was it called?

I think the old bar by the market was called "euro sport" Yes they are working on it and it should be open ready for the summer season. I was talking to the new owner this morning,...he has big plans for it over the next year,...lets just hope people will use it, being right next to the market what better advertising can you get?

Yes Euro Sport is the correct name. And it was not only a bar. It used to be a nice restaurant.

But it will go the same way as all the other "Nice bars and restaurants" closed down or bust unless people actually "use it" instead of saying what a shame it shut down how nice it was BUT never used it, so get behind this new venture and help keep it open by spending your money there, after all its our area and in our interests to make people want to buy ,rent and come to the area.

I agree. Very well written comment!

The owner told me that it will be kind of like a members club and also offer its facilities to the tourists, a little bit like the hillside.
He also told me that it is going to be pretty much a euro pub,..so small beers =1€ and so forth and while chatting to him he was saying there will be a stage area in the corner for live entertainment....... I hope it works for him.

Sound great and it will also make the area look so much better as well as bring more people back to La Marina and offering jobs to people, I hope it all goes well.

Taken from another forum.

At the weekend I was talking to someone who is actually going to be working at this new venture, so have managed to find out a bit more information that I can pass on to you all.

Apparently it is going to be a members club, opening for business on the 1st May this year. The membership fee is going to be 60€ per year, which gives you access to all the facilities (gym, pool, bars etc). There will be 2 bars (a sports bar on the lower level and a lounge bar upstairs), where drink prices will be at a subsidised price beer:: :23_50_4[1]: . Members will be able to sign guests in at a cost of 3E per day for adults and 1€ per day for children. Food will be available, but primarily only quite basic (burgers, sandwiches etc). There are plans to develop the pool area further, with the introduction of slides and a wave machine, but these will come at a later date (depending on how successful the venture is, I suppose). There are also plans to put on entertainment in the Lounge bar.

Obviously, I can't guarantee the accuracy of all this information, but they are going to hold some open days when they first open (I think the dates will be 1st, 2nd & 3rd of May), where we will all be able to have a look around and get the necessary information. It all sounds very interesting to me, and if things are as I've heard, I will definitely be thinking of joining.

If I hear anything further I will post it on here.

Seems very interesting. Good for the whole area if it works as intended

I think the new venture has got something to do with Sandra and Eugene from Posh Palace and as such should be good

Yes, they are the new owners and it will be great when it is up and running, from the 1st May.

I was looking round the complex yesterday while shopping at the market,....1st of may looks highly unlikely for opening,..unless of course that is just for the bar areas to open up,...there are still major works to be done on the pool and lots of ground work to be done to pass health and safety standards,...but I wish them all the best for the tall order of opening up on the 1st of march,.....can't wait to go and have look round the inside and possibly have a beer or 2

Just to let you know I have been told the opening weekend will be 2nd, 3rd and 4th May not the 1st.

Will they keep the name "Eurosport" or have they chosen another name?

ASL Member Founding Member 2014-04-06

I have been told that it is to be called Posh Private Members Club.

ASL Member Founding Member 2014-04-06

So it will become the PPMC Sounds to me more like those same sounding political party names out here

Had another walk past there on sunday while shopping round the market,.....it does look like they are making very slow progress,...hope they get it sorted,...as 3 weeks is a short space of time to get all the work done that still needs doing!

Spoke to the owners today. The opening date for the Water park is 1st June but the club house will be opening on 2nd, 3rd and 4th May with live music all weekend. From then on there will be live music Thursday afternoons Friday and Saturday night and Sunday afternoon and karaoke on Sunday evenings. There will be quiz night on Wednesday night and Bingo on Thursday night.

I saw today informaton of the opening of the new "Posh". Seems like an interesting place. Nowadays you can consider visiting places that were previously impossible. Smoking ban indoors makes it possible for most people to visit restaurants and bars. Without being poisoned by cigarette smoke.
