Steve I sent the comment to you as a personal message. I certainly did not expect to see you print my personal details or my email address for all to see. I am not sure if by doing so, this goes against the rules on Data Protection. Even if it does not , in my opinion, by doing so,this has undermined the whole purpose of such a forum. If you have no conscience regarding my personal details, I wonder does that apply to everyone. From your subsequent comments, it is my opinion that you seem to turn your nose up at laws that were created to protect the rights of individuals. Therefore I will NEVER post on this site again, nor shall I take the trouble to read it. The upshot of this will now have to be that people who have genuine comments or enquiries, will have to contact me via my web page, blog or personally. This is a personal decision and does not prohibit a member of my staff issuing information to other subscribers. Also as a result of your posting, I have withdrawn my personal email account from AOL.

I dont know if you will read this Jeff,But I was one of the people who used the e-mail address, that was on the letter that Steve put on this Forum,I can understand your feelings on the fact that it is not a good idea to put an e-mail address onto a general public Forum as this could lead to all sorts of e-mails arriving in your inbox, many of which would be insulting.I did already have your e-mail address from about 18 months ago,so I hope that by using the link attached to your letter,I did not upset you unduly,it is just sometimes i am lazy and do the odd thing for speed rather than protocol.I must also thank you for your speedy reply.
La Marina does have another Local Forum, where the backbighting hardly exists and is a tight ship run by people who care,I would suggest that it is important for you to stay in touch with the locals, and the Forum I mentioned would be a far better one to use.In my opinion, rather than none at all.

Steve/Jeff
I have been considering this matter of Data Security and had waited until I had time to address this question.
I appreciate that in order to send me to me copies of comments on those questions that I have contributed to on ASL, you Steve, need my E-mail address and the consequences are that you probably have my IP number (Hope I got that terminology right).
I noted Jeffs comments considering remarks made by Brian. Jeff somehow knew that Brian was in England from where he knew the comments were coming.
I sincerely hope that this information on Brian's details did not come from you?
CAN YOU ASSURE US ALL THAT ANY INFORMATION CONCERNING E-MAIL ADDRESES, IP ADDRESSES OR ANY OTHER INFORMATION WHICH YOU HAVE GATHERED WHEN WE REGISTERED IS ABSOLUTELY SAFE IN YOUR HANDS?

I believe that Jeff wrote to Steve::

I am aware that you operate this site from the UK.

Nowhere can I find where he or anyone else mentions Brian being in UK. Please guide me to the post in question. Thanks in advance.

Robert.

I did post on this late last night but I removed it because its pointless getting involved in this now.
Like Steve posted it will cost touch time and money to start proceedings.
Here's another thing. For anyone who is using, satellite round about or Ole communications for the Internet, I can say that they will not match the persons correct name and address, Bu that I mean IP address. For instance my IP address shows up as a address in Villa Martin and registered to some Spanish dude.
You could also be a bit cheeky and block out your IP address with peer block but that's usually used for blocking out signal for downloading films illegally.
Just to throw a bit of reverse psychology, Robert you live over Oasis way, did the PIPN partypromise to do something about the roads if they managed to obtain a council seat. I think you mentioned before that Jeff would try and sort the problem. Well correct me if I'm wrong, if that was part of the PIPN manifesto and as of yet nothing has come of it, surly you can class that as lying, still a couple of years to go though. You never know the roads might get sorted.

Commented Andi in La Marina 2013-01-08 20:25:24 UTC

Andi,
My provider for my sins is Telefonica, but it shows my ip address as being in this area.
I do live over Oasis way, and the PIPN party did promise to do something about the roads if they managed to obtain a council seat, I have been expecting that promise to be made good for over two years and I still expect that promise to be made good, and I will still keep pestering Jeff and the PIPN to honour their promise.
It is not only the roads but the whole infrastucture which was demolished by the previous administration.
The fact that this promise has not yet materialised in its self does not make Jeff a liar, I think we will all have wait and see and possibly offer a few apologies later on this year.
I do hope so.

Commented Robert in La Marina 2013-01-08 21:31:27 UTC

That's very true Robert. There's still plenty of time to get sorted the entire mess you guys find yourself in over there.
I'm with Ole and the IP address show up in villa Martin to some guy called Jose.
Your also true that just because the roads are not sorted does not make Jeff a liar.
What would annoy me if I was a resident on oasis is, if its true what the paper states about the councillors taking a Xmas bonus of over couple thousand euros, surely they can find the money to fulfil the promise to sort oasis out.

Commented Andi in La Marina 2013-01-08 21:35:37 UTC

Robert,
I stand corrected! Apologies to all concerned.
The question still remains if our data information is safe in ASL hands?

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-01-09 08:46:35 UTC

I think your information is safe as I think the only information Steve/ASL has is your email address. Your TCP/IP address is through your ISP provider. It was a bit naughty to publish Jeff's email address but I can't see how Steve would know where he lived from that information.
I of course stand to be corrected and my email address is [email protected]. If anyone can identify where I am from that info then I will be amazed.

Commented marko in Quesada 2013-01-09 15:27:41 UTC

I think from my knowledge that yes Marco you are correct. Anyone who tells you different is a wind up artiste. Plus is trying to upset the many people who take part on this rather out spoken and popular at times forum.

Commented Spanish Connections in Rentals in Spain 2013-01-09 15:46:43 UTC

People thinking is a great problem here! We need facts.
A question has been asked of ASL and or its Admistrator Steve is our personal data information safe in his or the sites hands?
For a reason I do not understand after 24+ hours we have no response from Steve and I wonder why?

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-01-09 16:25:39 UTC

Yes your email address are safe, no one is interested in them

Commented Team ASL "A Spanish Life" in La Marina 2013-01-09 16:45:37 UTC

Right Marko.... I think you are from Quesada!!!

Commented Peter Horsfield in La Marina 2013-01-09 17:21:33 UTC

Peter have you solved the mystery of why did some 'La Marina comments' suddenly becoming 'from Spain comments'

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-01-09 18:43:19 UTC

I'm sorry Peter, but no, not Quesada.

Commented marko in Quesada 2013-01-09 20:31:31 UTC

Marko,
You have stated in your post " It was a bit naughty to publish Jeff's email address". Excuse me but this man is local government a councillor, an elected representative of people from this area, should we the citizens of the local community not have access to him via email! Sad to say that councillor Wiszniewski agrees with you, he has deleted his email address so that nobody can email him!

Commented Sandra in La Marina 2013-01-09 21:45:15 UTC

Sandra,
It looked like a personal email address to me. I would be disappointed in your council if they did not provide Jeff with a works one which everyone should have access to.

Commented marko in Quesada 2013-01-09 23:06:04 UTC

Is anyone else concerned that Jeff Wisziewski does not know how to comply with the Data Protection Act! As the deputy Mayor he will have access to databases in the Ayuntamiento that includes all personal information about local residents! But he deletes his own personal email address!

Commented Sandra in La Marina 2013-01-10 09:15:07 UTC

Sandra,
Personally I dont give a toss if Jeff doesnt understand the Data Protection Act,He doesnt need to,I am sure that if he needed for some reason to know anypart of it,I am sure the Council have a Lawyer on retension,to explain the info. he requires.Jeff is a councillor,I would prefer him to have knowledge on things that he needs to know, and not a bit of knowledge on everything. The old saying ¨´Jack of all trades master of none' springs to mind,I am quite happy if he does what Councillors do.
But I am not like you,I see good and bad in everyone,I have slagged jeff off a few times, the difference between me and you,Is i dont have a pop at him out of pure malice,Unfortunately whenever i see your name on a comment,I think here we go again another anti Jeff speech.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-01-10 10:10:22 UTC

Sandra,
The fact that As the deputy Mayor he will have access to databases in the Ayuntamiento, does in no way NOT comply with the Data Protection Act!
Has he ever passed on anyones private information.
The fact that he has deleted his own e-mail is his perogative, and if you should ever wish to e-mail him or send him any messages, he has advised in future you use his Blog

Commented Robert in La Marina 2013-01-10 10:16:56 UTC

I would tend to disagree in a small way to Steve saying who would want your e-mail address,I will lay odds that at sometime your address book may of been hacked, letters are then sent to all people on your address book telling everyone what a great offer you took up (yes it goes out in the name of the hacked person,)when that person opens that e-mail chances are there address book is stolen and e-mails sent out. When that round has finished all the names and addresses are sold on,so although the first lot are an annoyance, when the second round starts it can be a different ball game,So like it or not e-mail addresses are worth money to some devious people

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-01-10 10:22:18 UTC

One used e-mail address, valid World Wide, no reasonable offers refused, last one I sold I got £100,000, guide price only.

Robert,
I'd be delighted to purchase your used Email address for £100k. If you could just send me your bank details and password, I'll arrange for the money to be transferred.

Commented marko in Quesada 2013-01-10 11:15:06 UTC

Robert`
Hope you are not the person who bought my e-mail address and possibly sold it on, late last year,as since then i have received around 40 e-mails telling me my bank accounts will be frozen due to a problem, unless i give them some info.because fortunately ,I didnt have accounts in any of these banks,so the scammers might be coming back to you for their money
