Rather surprised that none of the British News channels even mentioned his passing away. RIP Acker you were a great performer and a nice person to of known. I first came into contact with him when I was a mere 19, he used to play at a jazz club I worked in at the Crown Hotel in Morden. If he was not playing that Thursday night then he would most probably just be in with some of the other Jazz guys like Chris Barber. It was always a great night. Later on he used to come in to my club in Somerset he was always good fun and some of his stories were really funny. Seeing him play Stranger on the Shore was always a treat.
