ROCK ARENA CONCERT

Must be this coming weekend, as when we learned firstly of the date we booked a weekend away a Benidorm.

Hi Alan havent you seen the posters that are dotted about the urb must admit they are very dark and A4 size so if you werent really looking for them you might miss them

Got to plead guilty, I wasn't looking for them, I have an excuse though having just had Cataract sorted and waiting for the other eye to be done, my eyesight is not at its best, so I guess I will blame that. Of course also havn't seen any advertising as to who or what is happening at our three day festival, which is in just over three weeks, I remember being told last year, that the organizer doesn't get told how much he is allowed to spend until nearer the date of the Fiesta, so I gather it is the same for this year

Talking to Paulino yeterday it will be a couple of weeks before entertainment finalised as prices and contracts have to be agreed.

I did a bit of checking yesterday, Must say it seems strange, that we will know nothing about what our Festival is going to consist of, until possibly about a week or so before the Fiesta takes place, But the Rock Festival (which to be fair, is not being put on for the residents of La Marina, but for as a tourist attraction (LOL)posters were printed with full programme of participating groups and even costs to La Marina 10 WEEKS before the Rock Festival.
Also find it strange that Councillor Alonso, was in charge of rock festival and it seems like Councillor Herraro,is having some input into our Fiesta, Yet I have not heard a word or seen anything on the blog from the Councillor for La Marina and FIESTAS, so come on Jeff have you anything to say about the Festival or the fiesta.

Alan I did not say Paulino was having input when I spoke to him and asked who had been booked he made a phone call to who I do not know and that was the answer he gave.

Thanks for correcting me on that point, my point in mentioning it, was that Jeff has not had a word to say about the August Fiesta, all we know, is that it is always held on the first weekend in August, We can ascertain that it will cost in the region of 50,000 Euros, and we will be forking out at least some of this ourselves via the Suma, in time Jeff will state that Valencia pay a vast sum towards this, but from what I gather, the Council never says how much, I enjoy these type' s of gatherings, But I think leaving it to a week before telling us, Is just taking the urine (sorry) possibility is that some people will make other arrangements for that weekend, where as if they knew what was happening on La Marina, they may of well chosen to of been here and spent money with local businesses, instead of spending in towns who make sure that fun days are advertised well before the one week that we may get

Jeff has updated his blog today.
Apparently ,a committee are hopefully meeting today to decide which company has won the tender to organize the Fiesta this year, Hopefully a full announcement will be made next week, which will include the full list of entertainment for the three days.
Jeff did apologize for the lateness of the announcement, but put this down to a problem in a previous year, when the entertainment was announced apparently before the tender was finally agreed.
Perhaps I could venture to help Jeff sort out this problem, why not have the committee meeting a month earlier than you tend to now, If you don't know what sort of balance you will have to spend start asking and shouting earlier, I find it very hard to believe the rest of your excuse, that the three companies that sent in tenders sent in the wrong paperwork twice and had to resend it again and on the third time I gather they got it right. (if it is true , then I worry about the competence of any of these companies to be able to organize a three day event,

It's not the competance of the companies it is all about the competance of this council. They have at least 4 or 5 Junta de gobierno meetings each month. Councillor Wisznieski and his partners on the council never do things right, perhaps they are just plain incompetent. They have been caught out by opposition councillors on many occasions breaking the law and ignoring set procedures. I believe court cases are still pending but lets all hope that these are finalised before next years elections.

You would blame the Council and Jeff, Because people cannot tender properly, but in all fairness you would blame them for anything that your Opposition 'friend' tells you to.
