LA MARINA BOWLS CLUB FOR WEEK COMMENCING 28TH APRIL 2014

Back to our summer league after the Champion of Champions, but, before I go on to our report I must offer huge congratulations to our mixed trips of Janet Parsons, Peter Parsons skip Alan Castle on winning the mixed trips at the aforementioned event they also went very close to winning the mixed rinks along with Tom Spencer losing on the last end by one shot. Special mention for Janet Parsons on representing La Marina in no fewer than 5 disciplines. A belated congratulations for the trips of Cathy Manning, Tom Spencer skip Jim Manning on winning the recently held Greenland’s open.

So everything up to date back to the Summer League, this week the Pilots travelled to play Greenland’s Glosters coming away with a very creditable 12 points to 2 win, the winning trips Pam Morgan, Shelia Kirby skip Dave O`Sullivan: Linda Vincent, Steve Hindle skip Sue Daniels: Gina Hindle, Jim Freeman skip Len Daniels: Bob Tew, Bernie Carr skip Mo Kidd: and Janet Parsons, John Morgan skip Peter Parsons.

The Navigators were at Home playing against La Siesta Wasps unfortunately losing on the day by 5 points to 9 the winning trips Brenda Brain, Dave Willas skip Margaret Finlayson: Martin Butler, Phil Pape skip Brian Duff: and a draw for the trips of Brian Murray, John Rae skip Don Harrison.

Our VCL side were also at home entertaining Greenland’s Jasmine drawing the match 6 points to each team La Marina Winners on the day were Men`s Singles Andy Bartlett: Pairs Phil Pape and Alan Castle: and the additional 2 points coming from the overall points win.

Last week we celebrated St Georges day with a fun competition the winners on the day were Brenda Brain, Margaret Jamieson skipped by Barry Latham a good day enjoyed by all.
