Rojos Comsum square

NEW opening hours, From next week Rojos will be closed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday Daytime opening at 4pm as normal for drinks and food. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday we will be open as normal from 11am

Looks like another bar in La Marina going down the tubes,...a business has to be open to generate the custom,..otherwise custom will go elsewhere!

Just to Add to your negative coments. The business is far from going down the pan. But we always have to balance the income we make with having a life ourselves. we are working 80 plus hours a week. we are closed in the day when we take NO MONEY. we were closed all day Tuesday but will now 7 days a week in the evening when we do our business. Not sure if you have ever run a business in your life but id guess not. there is little point taking 30 euro all day and paying 60 in staff and as the weather gets warmer people eat later (already seen by us) and day time trade falls off. You simply cant win on this site, if you dont tell people your hours are changing you get slated, if you do thats wrong also. I think some people just want to moan. Not sure who you are but we havnt noticed you here eating food at lunchtime because we do very little. Our trade picks up at tea time and some days do little trade on monday and wednesday daytimes. Are we not allowed to run a business and have a life?

every time I have been into your establishment jez there is only your good lady and yourself working,....other than sunday's when i know you have helen waiting on and a young lass helping out in the kitchen,...so where do you get the 60€ wage bill from on the days when only you two work? You have to be there to show your face and let the public know you are a reliable business,...I can see where you are coming from when wanting to close on quiet periods,...but in this day and age it is absurd,..possibly the fact that Los Amigo's has re-opened and took some of you trade could be a huge factor,...but to close on quiet times shows you to be backing down,...I have eaten in Rojo's many times with groups of friends and quite enjoyed myself there,...As for me possibly never having run a business/knowing anything about running a business, you are very much mistaken, I did so for 30 years back in the UK and in the quiet periods we pulled together and got our faces seen to let people know we were still there,..it payed dividends in the end, as people saw the business as reliable and resilient,...I was only remarking on your comment as all who live in this area do not want to see another business close down,...and by reducing your hours you could be getting on that slippery path of being classed as unreliable.

Well ill answer those coments, we will take much more money opening the evenings so Tuesday in the summer is important for us. We need to pay two staff from 11am to 4pm at 5 euros an hour thats 50 euro at least prob mor as you cant pay a cook 5 euro an hour, then there is the cost of contracts. We have worked the bar now for four months and Los amigos has not affected us at all apart from maybe some tea time drinkers, but thats life. I for one am ver pleased los amigos is doing well as it will make our end more busy in the summer. However, we have spoken to other bar owners who change opening hours in the summer as its simply not worth opening. we are now open 7 evenings a week but but only closed two days. We have to look at things and weigh up what we make to stay in business, (thats why loads dont). We always welcome all custome but you have to run the business to its strengths and ours is a restaurant, some businesses are trying to do both and it dont work. We always are trying new things and ways of making a profit to be here in a few years as other bars are. we are sorry we have changed things but we simply have to to stay in business and keep our costs down. If it was worthe it we would do it, but its not and opening Tueday evening will be. We have worked our bits off for close on a year now and getting there. Thankyou for your support.

Sorry just to add we will not be reducing hours, just changing them. In fact our hours by opening 4pm to close will probably be the same or maybe more. Dont forget we are closed all day Tuesday but feel that its silly to close evenings as the holiday season starts. We are doing it and know our best times. Hope you still use Rojos as we value your custom always.

At the end of the day, If you want businesses to stay open support them, comments like these dont help a business who have simply changed their opening hours for the summer months. Come along, enjoy the food, help Rojos and other businesses stay open and in profit.....Many arnt.

Well said, Jes, just ignore Messrs. Geoff and Simpkin.

Jescapes,
Don't rise to the bait. In the Nine years that I've done business in Spain, I've a multitude of business consultants, ex SAS, Eastend gangsters and 'SEO' engineers who just know how to run my business better than me. Keep doing what your doing and always bite back at negative comments, as it seems on this site, its very easy to sling mud.

One of the positives of being self employed is; whenever you complete a record and reveal process of whats working,(as you clearly have) then you the self employed operative, get to choose when where and how you operate. There has to be some reward for enduring all that goes with self employment. Being the decision maker is one of those said positives.

i think comments like going down the tubes is just not helpful. Maybe a little more thought would be helpful when members are passing comments on the forum. I often think that many of the comments made on here are not with the intention of malice just sometimes a little hasty.

Enjoy your time off, you need and deserve it to ensure you can be the best you can and give the best you can during your opening hours.

good luck for a fab summers trading !!!

Kind regards
Debra
