Burglaries

As an older member in the area please may I ask why it is that we never ever see the local police patrolling on foot in and on the ground of the the urbanisation.
If this was done the police might find or spot a few of the places where these robbers are holeing up. They would also maybe spot the cars they are using.
I thought I was told that Jeff was a high up ex copper? If that is the case why is he not on behalf of us all geting them trained up to act a little bit more like police normally do.
Or will we all have to start arming ourselves. Seems that nothing is being done to prevent this from getting worse.
A rather worried older lady.

In each room we have water guns loaded with neat Brobat. Yes we would use them if any of them get near our little house.

I can not understand why firms like B Safe are not bothering to have a banner up on sites like this. The demand must be there. Cost wise I think it is only about 3 euros a week. Plus this site still gets over 1,000 views a day. Perhaps they are all having problems like the lady in Quesada who has had hers taken out?

Does anyone have a idea with the actual amount of people on the Urb. There's like 6 police officers that I have seen or no more than 3-4 patrol cars on the Urb. Surely there should be more police than that for the size of this place. I see the national police walking around on this Urb checking bars more than you see the local police.
Get the local police out an about walking.

As a newcomer to the area i think yes we should be vigilant and lock doors and windows when we go out ,but this is not the wild west or an inner city area in London . If not we will all talk ourselves out of going out or leaving the home

Proper Police patrols are what is needed. It seems that most of these break-ins are when the owners are in the property. Has to be a pattern, here somewhere. Coppers on the beat please. Leave the bar owners alone, less coffee and a bit of action is needed

Hubby took the dog out for a walk this evening about 7.10 and as he walked back a police car came onto the Parque manzanares followed by a man & woman in another car. The man got out of the car and said to my husband, as he walked by, that they had had a break-in. Another one for the statistics.

I wonder if San Fulgencio has any problems with lack of Police and break-ins

It seems they target holiday makers more than anyone else. They probably think the Brits will have money with them as they have to change currencies. If I was a holiday maker with a Hire Car I would park it away from my place I was staying at as Hire Cars are a dead give away. Also, It may be an idea to fly a Spanish Flag from your property so they think you are Spanish. They have this idea in their heads that all brits are loaded.

Eve knowing Andi I think you could be right. He's loaded!

B Safe advertise in two free newspapers, they have an advertisement displayed in the local newsagents, close to Dos Mas and also attend the Sunday market every week. I'm sure the people living in La Marina are aware of their presence !

We also advertise in the services section on this site, and to date have not had one customer from it, We do the market because even after 7 years in business on La Marina most of our customers are in other areas, but we can advertise all we like, people will only get an alarm installed if they want one, the number of breakins mentioned on this wall is just the tip of the iceberg. We are often called to fit our grill alarms after people have already been robbed, not long ago We were accused of scaremongering on here by someone. If any of you like horror stories then get in touch and I will tell you about the footprints on the bed.

Jeff has added to his blog, firstly explaining the job of civil proteccion group. Also the police plan to collate all information on crime in the area,so the police can be in the right place at the right time.I think this is a great idea, although why it took so long to work out the obvious, leaves me to wonder, just what the local police have been doing for the past years,to combat crime, perhaps using the old pin and map idea.(close your eyes, stick pin in map and go to where the pin says).
