Bars on La Marina

I know I said I would never post on this forum again, but I felt I had to say something that has been on my mind for quite a while. It seems a shame that some bar owners on the urb cannot find much to smile about. We go to one bar on the Urb where the entertainment is second to none and the food is very good but, it is a shame that the Owner does not seem to make all of his customers feel welcome. He is probably a very nice young man, but sadly, we do not know this. It would be nice if he could acknowledge everyone when they enter his bar,and not only his croonies, after all, we are all of us spending our money there. I do not want anyone to be all over me but I would like to think that my money and company is as good as anyone else's. Having been in the hospitality trade myself I realise how important good will is, and we cannot run a business without it. So please try to put a smile on your face and then go out the back and "kick the cat" as the saying goes. It is as important to make your customers welcome as it is to serve good food and entertainment. It comes as a package. I will now get off my soap box. I just hope the young man will recognise himself.

I have to agree with you Adam. I had a small newsagency in Britain and had a couple of kids helping in the busy periods (I didn't do deliveries as I wouldn't let my kids be out in all weathers). I told my helpers that everyone who came through our door was special and to make them feel so. Customers are the wage, but that's not the only reason to treat them well. I loved being in the service industry. A nice welcome and a smile can make somebodies day, and thus makes you'rs. It's not all about money, it's about people. While'st I'm preaching, if you see somebody who looks nice, maybe just a nice smile or nice hair, tell them and watch them smile and feel better x

I totally understand where you are coming from, it is lovely to walk into a bar and made to feel welcome, and as you say so many bar owners forget this.

You mention cronies so its obvious you are not a regular, just name him so he knows who he is, he may change, but it is very hard if you are on your own and the place is packed.

We do use this bar quite a lot, not every night as we are not regular drinkers but when we go we do spend money and no Don he is not on his own he has a wife and staff, who I must say are very pleasant and always speak.
