Car Rental

Can anyone point me in the direction of a Car Rental company at Alicante airport who do a Full / Full return on their Cars. I got quoted 70 euros charge for fuel on a Fiat Panda on line. This works out at 2 euros a litre for the cars capacity, many thanks.

La Marina

Steve, how are you? You won't remember me, I'm sure, but you do know me. (re: your pool)

I have had several dealings with a company called "Wheels in Spain" and I really like their way of working. Firstly, the price they quote is the 'bottom line', there are no hidden extras. Secondly, they meet you at the airport (just outside the door) and hand the car over to you, so no horrendous queues inside the terminal, and thirdly, you can actually speak to/email the owner of the company if there's something you need to discuss.

Trawling through car hire companies on the internet is all very well, but sadly, people often end up paying more than they thought they were going to. For example, some relatives of mine arrived at Alicante and were faced with a long queue at the car hire desk, and they ended up paying 45 Euros to jump the queue!

In answer to your specific point, Wheels in Spain's policy on fuel is that you return the car with the same amount as you took it with.

Good luck!

Geoff.

Bringing a dog over

What is the best way to bring a dog over for a few weeks?

drive it

Commented exsas in La Marina 2016-02-13 07:20:17 UTC

Hi it all depends on what you want to pay! To fly from the UK (I'm assuming that's where you are travelling from) is very expensive. We drive over, there are plenty of crossing's. If you don't fancy the long haul through France, ferries leave from Plymouth & Portsmouth to
Spain ,Santander & Bilbao. I've never done the direct crossing to Spain but if you look on Brittany Ferries website you can check out crossings etc.

so far i havent had to wear more than shorts and t shirt during day and jumper in evenings. you certainly wont need big coat out evenings.

Hi Debra, Bring some warm clothes as warm during the day outside but cool indoors. Quite chilly during the evening and we had a downpour.

Commented jackieb57 in La Marina 2016-02-07 09:25:28 UTC

Thank you that's most helpful. Being form the North East of England I'm used to cold temperatures so it probably feels a bit warmer to me in Spain even in Feb. Don't want to look like a idiot with the wrong clothes though, so thanks again for the heads up xx

I`m originally from the North West. If I could get Thermal Long Johns, I`d wear them at night...... I personally wear multi layers, with fleece and proper Flying Jacket during the evening.

Commented chalkie in Quesada 2016-02-08 20:59:05 UTC

i suppose i dont feel the cold so much after years of training in the brecon beacons.

Commented exsas in La Marina 2016-02-09 06:11:45 UTC

might be that I`ve got soft after living here.

Commented chalkie in Quesada 2016-02-09 15:31:49 UTC

I'm smiling at all these helpful comments.

My dad actually reminded that those of you living in Spain "full time" will have acclimatized and therefore probably feel the cold more than me. That said I am grateful for all the advice and will be sure to wrap up warm. The only downside being my hand luggage won't be big enough to accommodate it all. Big suitcase it is then !!!!!!

Re: the guy after the long johns. I'm sure somebody told me they got "long johns" at Primark Zenia Boulevard in the winter ( or have I imagined this?)

Thank you all for your help, have a lovely evening

It all depends on the individual. I wear shorts all year, but this time of year, sometimes with a Tshirt and sometimes I wear a top with sleeves, but I have mates (my age) say "it's freezing" and they've got jeans and a jumper on.!
Best advice, ladies seem to feel the cold more so wear something warm at night.

Death

A deadly serious question.
If you should happen to die how much will it cost to get you cremated? Does anyone have any experience. Not of dying but of paying.
