A Golf Tip-Putting • Alex

How much time do you spend practicing your putting, excluding the pre round warm up? My guess is less than 50% of your practice time.
Did you know??
Around 80% of all dropped shots are within 100 yards of the geen!!?

BASIC PUTTING SET UP:

1.1- Build a solid base
2- Allow your arms to hang naturally under
the shoulders,
3.Position the ball 2 inches from the sternum, target side (left for right handers)
4. GET YOUR TARGET EYE DIRECTLY OVER THE BALL!
5. Position your feet parallel to your intended target line.

3 PUTTING DRILLS YOU JUST HAVE TO TRY:

1.The Compass Drill.

Simply place balls on each point of the
compass, at 1, 2 and 3 feet intervals. Start
with the inside balls and work your way
out. You must hole out each time, if not
start again.

2. 10 Ball Drill.

Find a relatively flat putt, line up 10
balls at 2 foot intervals. Place the flag 18
inches behind the hole. Start with the nearest
ball and work your way back. The aim of
this drill is to control distance. So if your ball
doesn´t reach the hole or touches the flag
behind, you stop and start again. This drill is
excellent when done with your eyes closed
to heighten the feeling.

3. Naughts and Crosses Drill.

Using tees mark out 9 3 feet x 3 feet squares, to resemble the board. The idea of this drill is to get 3 balls in a line, diagonally, horizontally or vertically. Putt from at least 10 feet before the front line. This drill must be done in pairs.
