Bavarian bar Fiesta

Why wasn't there any police presence last night at the mini fiesta outside the Bavarian bar & La Station? Mainly for health & safety reasons as there should be at any event like that. There were children running around in a so called safe area. Cars passing through the 'No Entry' barracade outside The Lounge & parking the other side. Cars reversing out & going the wrong way down one way streets.
They appeared at 1155pm outside The Lounge bar to ensure the singer (who was appearing inside) finished at midnight. Still not doing anything about the illegally parked cars & Ibidrola van.
I just hope the police prescence is going to be in force at the Verano Fiesta as there will be even more people there. God forbid we don't have a major incident!

Geo.
A couple of possibilities why no Police presence last night.
1, The Police couldn't park close enough to the Venue
2 It was too far from the Policia Station for them to walk.
3The volunteers didn't volunteer
4 The Police were waiting for there new hybrid police car to arrive and didn't want to miss the opening of the car door.
Any more sensible answers, please put comment, Those of us resident on the Urbs. need something to smile about

Very true or:
5. More like having a coffe at there favourite Spanish bar on the strip.
6. Too hot for them to fill in the paperwork for any offenders.
7. They couldnt see through their sun glasses when it got dark.
8. It was safer for them to stay in the tranquility of San Fulgencio village ( refer to 6 above).

"Why wasn't there any police presence last night at the mini fiesta"
The answers very simple..........nobody complained about it !

But seriously though, there should always be a Policia Local or special constable presence at these public mini fiesta's for the safety of the members of public, particularly this time of year during the school holidays where there's generally more families around.
Perhaps Carlos the mayor & Paulino are not paying the Police enough to care anymore ??

Commented Dell in La Marina 2015-07-19 14:57:49 UTC

I think you made one important slip of the pen Dell, Carlos and Paulinho don't pay the Local Policia wages, They only think they do, The truth may surprise them but I understand we pay the Local Policia Wages in our SUMA payments , and seeing as Carlos lives in Alicante he pays nothing, I believe Paulinho lives local so he pays the same as every other Householder on the Urbs.
If only we can get them to understand, things may be different.
Only my feeling, but this council are being very anti Urbs at the moment.

Alan,
The policia local are on the town hall payroll, who controls the payroll is the Mayor.
Unfortunately the majority of the Spanish, (mainly in San Fulgencio) think that the expats just don't care & the reason for this is when we was asked to vote, the expats just didn't show up ! there is too much apathy within the expat community & the Spanish voters are aware of this, they are simply taking advantage, only now the people on the Urb beginning to realise this, which is why we are seeing many complaints not just on this site but others, regarding bin collection, Police presence, graffiti, etc etc Its going to get worse soon, because the Mayor is going to announce (if not already) a 20% increase in Suma plus an increase in Water & electricity & that's a fact.
I also voted for Jeff because I knew how important it is to have an independent party involved in the decision making of everyone who lives, not only on the Urb but in San Fulgencio as well. We had our chance & we blew it, so now its the first time in 25 years we have no expats actively in control of our town hall, now we going to have another 4 years of austerity here on the Urb, while we all look from our side in the distance at a nice new shinny San Fulgencio.
Just my thoughts !!

When I was voting I asked as a joke where all the other English were and the reply I got was "Those that moan the most always do the least" which I believe that is what another poster was saying the Spanish think of the people on the Urb.

Alan (on La Marina) please can you answer me this one question... did you actually attend the event?
I for one was at the event and there definitely was no need for any police presence. The road at either end of where the event was taking place was barricaded off. If a child wondered off from behind those barriers and into an un-barricaded road then whose fault would that be? Oh yes of course... the police! No responsibility of the parents to watch their children then? Hmmm... thought not.

Hmmm... pensamiento no.

Sonrisa,
Beginning to understand you now, Yes I was with my family at the Bavarius Fiesta (My local area) But, I didn't write anything about the no police presence, So I am taking it that I have really upset you That you are willing to blame me for just about everything that goes awry. If it makes you feel better carry on blaming me, I suppose it could be my fault the sun is hot, and rain is wet, I honestly can take it, it is like water off a ducks back. But one bit of advise if you are going to blame me for something ,make sure you read my comment before hand,it may help your cause If your comment is knowledgeable.

Alan (on La Marina),
I have included a screen shot of previous threads to help jog your memory.
Don't take things so literally Alan. My whole response to the 'no police presence' thread was aimed at you and Geo. Apologies that I didn't make the effort to respond to you and Geo separately. I'll try and simplify matters for you in future. But to be honest I think this morning I've completely lost the will to live. LOL

Regarding comments on expats not voting, this year for some strange reason, I didn't receive any voting forms through the post, why ? I turned up on the day to vote, but of course, I wasn't on the list !
I believe this also happened to a few expats, so even though we wanted to vote, we couldn't,
Was this a deliberate tactic against expats, who knows.

Sonrisa,
You wont admit it, but the point I made about the police not turning up was a joke, perhaps not funny to you but a laugh to others. the reason why you took it serious is something you have to sort out, Why was it a joke
A police car couldn't get much closer ,,they have their own parking bays just metres away from Bavarius. Why couldn't they walk (same reason as above )the police stn. is just metres away, the bit about the hybrid car you can read in the pp manifesto. the volunteers didn't volunteer is obvious. But the next sentence was obvious to me and at least a few others that my reply was light hearted.
But I am concerned that the comments and attacks you make on me are the first comments you have made on this site. Your choice of English and Spanish replies is confusing ,It leads me to think that I have really upset you one way and another, So to save your heart from severe strain that you must be under. I have decided I have to take your health under consideration ,that from this moment, I will not be making any more comments on this Forum. I must add , I didn't realize that anybody could be so upset by comments made on a very small forum, but as they say it takes all sorts. I hope you enjoy writing comments on this forum. Enjoy

Alan,
"I will not be making any more comments on this Forum."
?????
Are you moving to an other country?
I will miss your comments and your angry attacks on me. And on others. Even if we sometimes have the same opinion on things.
But I think we will see your angry chicken? again. True?

I was also there & there was a need for Police Prescence incase of an emergency. The roads were barracaded off at both ends. I witnessed several cars that drove & parked inside the barriers where children were playing & tables were put out from The Pizza place & Mulberrys. I also witnessed some that couldnt parked causing chaos as they drove the wrong way down one way streets. If there had been an accident it would have been the Police at fault for not being there as well as the ignorant drivers.
I did go to the Council & had a long discussion with Paulino who wS surprised there was not Police at the event. He assured me there would be in future & at the Verano festival.
