Social Services

I wish to apologise to those British residents who have asked me to translate for them at Social Services in the Police Station.

This morning Councillor Paulino rang me and stated that for the foreseeable future I am not permitted to do so and that he will be doing it in my place.

If you need to talk to me about this, please contact me at the Office for the Urbanisations. Thank you

WHAT?!!!!

Can anyone do that? That seems a bit too far!

Peter,
I always thought that Paulino was in charge of Parks and Gardens, Unfortunately he told me differently, because suddenly he became in charge of Streets, Gardens, Transportation, Lighting, Garbage,Helping Police, Helping Social Services, Representing the Mayor when he is away on official business, since reporting all this it looks like he has also taken over the new Ambulance and now he looks to be the one and only interpreter on the Council and Council staff. At this rate he will take over the world shortly. Unfortunately he is losing any respect I have for him.

Peter and Alan, you have really got it in for Paulino haven't you. In all the dealings I have had with him, I have always found him to be very helpful and honest, and as far as I know, he has always been there to translate for anyone. There are always two sides to every story, but you both seem to latch on to whatever is said without looking in to it. How can you lose respect for a man who is willing to do as much as he can to help the community, but then you would probably say that he has an ulterior motive. In my own opinion, it seems to be a rarity in Spain, that someone is prepared to work hard to benefit everyone in the community. But like I say, that is only my opinion.

Tommy,
As you say, You have your opinion, Well I have mine. But I did not say I had lost my respect, I said I was losing any respect, which means I have not lost all respect. I have on occasions praised him for the well kept parks and gardens, but you choose not to read them, that is not my fault. I have also said that I would not support him in any election whilst he is still a PP candidate, Because his party have not thought of La Marina Urbs. for the last four years, so I have no intention of thinking of them know. You obviously have reasons to support him, Good on you, but don't have a pop at me just because I don't see him in the same light as you. As far as I am concerned, he over stepped his position, twice recently once when he gave out the emergency telephone number for the new ambulance, but did not mention at the time, if the 112 number or the local police number could still be used in an emergency, until people wrote on this forum to check. Secondly, I believe that Samantha has, in the past acted as a translator for the Social Services, all of a sudden just weeks before an election, he suddenly seems to tell her that he is the boss, Why hasn't he told her for four years, or do you think Samantha made her comment on here, just to wind people up.

How can you say that the current administration has done nothing for the Urb in the last 4 years. When they took over, we were 9 million in debt, and that has been greatly reduced. The speed limits have been rectified. It was Mayor Carlos and Paulino who, along with the Presidents Assoc, managed to get permission for the bars to have entertainment, and by the way, Jeff or Sam, didn't want anything to do with it. The parks and gardens have been cleaned up, and the roads have been fixed and relaid. Oasis has finally been sorted. The street lights have all been changed over to LED bulbs which is a 10% saving. If that is doing nothing, then I am all for it.
As I have said before, I don't care what party is in power, as long as they do everything they can for OUR Urbanisation. I would certainly give the current party another 4 years, rather than give power to someone who is more interested in dogs than people.
I can't wait for the manifestos from all of the parties, but then again, plenty of people have a lot to say, even on this forum, but none of them are prepared to do anything about it. If anyone has a gripe, don't just moan about it on here, get something done.

Tommy
Not for the first time on this forum you state that this current Council took over a debt of nine million Euro, of course you have seen proof of that, because all I remember from four years ago was the PP and the PSOE arguing about the debt and the size of it, what I do seem to remember was the Mayor saying he was not going to pay the one million Euros plus, that was owed to the company that had the contract with the previous council, for care of parks and gardens, so for ages nothing was done and they all looked like a dumping ground. Later in his reign a new company was contracted within another year or so this parks and gardens looked neat and tidy again, that was when I started praising Paulino, whereas in fact we were back to where we were a year or so earlier. You then went on to say that your Presidents Assoc., the Mayor and Paulino all played a part in negotiations, to get Bars to have live music, you then add that "We all know how that turned out, but the Town Hall was not to blame" So I gather the music thing was not a success, I find it hard to say thank you for something that seemed like a failure. The recent small part of road repairs in La Marina wasn't exactly expensive for us as the Alicante Diputante paid the bill and sorted out the contract. (just as an aside, I believe the same office will put up to 150,000 Euros aside for infrastructure for an Urb our size next year) From what I see is Oasis is not sorted until the job is done, In fact has it started yet?
I am sure that Sam and Jeff will be ever so pleased to hear that they didn't lift a finger to help with your success with the license for Bars and live music. I actually still remember a few years back when the Bar noise argument broke out, and I seem to remember Jeff was the onlt Councellor to spend a couple of nights up at Consume, sometimes with the police sometime without, and funnily the only trouble that needed police attention were a couple of rowdy groups making their way home, the police did not have to go into one bar to make them turn down there music.
Again just my opinion , You are entitled to yours.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2015-04-21 14:42:32 UTC

Nice one Alan.
I only commented on the use of Sam as interpreter.
I see Paulinho sometimes twice a week and I am pleased to call him a friend but they are all politicians who have an agenda.

Commented Peter Horsfield in La Marina 2015-04-21 15:22:10 UTC

Alan, I find your remarks patronising and sarcastic. You make out that you remember everything that goes on, and yet you could not remember when we were able to get music accepted in the bars. A lot of work and time went into that, and it was a success until a very small minority of bars spoilt it for everyone, as is common knowledge.Just for your information, I attended many meetings with the Town Hall to resolve the problem and the Town Hall bent over backwards to help the bars.If everyone would have abided by the guidelines, there would have been no problem. You stated that the police did not have to go into any bar to tell them to turn the music down. Where have you been? It was a common occurrence nearly every week, so get your facts right. Oh and by the way, I have seen the proof about the debt.
As you appear to come across that you have a lot of knowledge, why don't you put it to use and do something constructive for the urbanisation, instead of criticising the people who try their best to get things done
I am not going tit for tat with you, as I have better things to do, but no doubt you will come back with a little quip. Just my opinion.

Hi Tommy think Alan is Jeff and Sam,s campaign manager, publicity officer and thinks the urb would be a better place with them in charge god forbid

Tommy
Just a quicky, then I am done. read what tou want, but I clearly said , that A few years ago, when the noise issue started, Jeff went to the consume area. I didn't say he did it after the pres. assoc was formed. the rest of what you state, is your opinion.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2015-04-22 07:47:32 UTC

Councillor back biting is well underway I see. If the translations are voluntary then what has it to do with other councillors getting involved? Preventing one or the other seems childish at best.

gosh......how short some memories are when the campaigns begin lol

Commented Richie in La Marina 2015-04-26 15:57:12 UTC

That is Politics Richie, No different now than when I first voted over 50 years ago.
They have to convince you, that they are more truthful than the opposition, Once they get an employment contract for four years, they suffer selective amnesia,.
The fun is working out who lies least,

Commented Alan in La Marina 2015-04-26 17:01:55 UTC

Yes and making up your OWN MIND and not listening to all the prompting from people on here

Commented david in La Marina 2015-04-26 17:16:38 UTC

As to who tells the truth , My mind is firmly made up..............

Commented Richie in La Marina 2015-04-27 06:23:01 UTC

Come on Richie, own up as to who tells the truth,. Because in fairness I have found each Councellor I have spoken to, at some time has told me a lie. Would love to talk to one who tells the truth, need to speak to him or her before voting, Of course I could try the new parties but they have not got any one on the Council yet.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2015-04-27 07:22:19 UTC

Its difficult to know who tells the truth, but easy to know who doesn't lol

Commented Richie in La Marina 2015-04-27 09:17:29 UTC

Richie
Come on own up, I didn't see your name on the candidates list for this year, so I gather you are practicing for the local elections of 2019, You have just replied with a professional answer that any politician would give, You gave a reply without giving an answer. lol

Commented Alan in La Marina 2015-04-27 09:54:15 UTC

Morning Alan, nice to see you are on top of things.

Commented Peter Horsfield in La Marina 2015-04-27 09:59:36 UTC

Just for your Info Alan I was asked to stand this year however declined as I would prefer to remain neutral due to the radio station, I was asked to join PIPN before but again declined and was glad I did, Im sure people will make up their own minds how to vote if they do at all

Commented Richie in La Marina 2015-04-27 10:00:35 UTC

Good morning Peter, I think you may be way down in the pecking order, but as the old saying goes, you put your money where your mouth is. So good on you.
Much as I would love to be a Councillor, I feel I am a bit over the hill, and Rheumatoid Arthritis, is a bit of a draw back, much of the time.
Richie, You have your head screwed on right, Politics can be awkward while running a radio station, You would have to try to not upset your listeners and advertisers, as well as appearing to be a straight guy who does not take back handers for political favours. As for your PIPN. statement, I remember reading a comment by you and thinking at the time that someone at PIPN had p****d you off.

Is it safe to ask if work has started on oasis?

Commented chalkie in Quesada 2015-04-27 15:52:41 UTC

Hi Chalkie,
Of course it is safe to ask. In fact Paulino has put on this page, that the machinery has arrived, so possibly the workmen will be arriving soon.
I think a party must be in order, for the residents of Oasis, Perhaps the Council can foot the bill. lol

Commented Alan in La Marina 2015-04-29 07:44:28 UTC

Workmen are taking the old lamp posts away and machinery is preparing the road at the moment. It will be worth the dust storm as long as they get the tarmac on soon!!

Bob.
